Relativity Fills Out SNOW WHITE Cast With the Seven Dwarfs (http://collider.com/relativity-snow-white-seven-dwarfs/92955/)

Relativity’s Snow White Rounds Out Casting

Relativity Announces Nine Actors to Play alongside Roberts, Collins, Hammer, and Lane

(Beverly Hills, CA) May 25, 2011 – Relativity Media has closed deals with Mark Povinelli (Water for Elephants), Jordan Prentice (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle), Danny Woodburn (Watchmen), Sebastian Saraceno (Bedtime Stories), Ronald Lee Clark (Epic Movie), Martin Klebba (Hancock) and Joey Gnoffo (Pirates of the Caribbean series) to play the Seven Dwarfs in its upcoming untitled Snow White feature, directed by Tarsem Singh (Immortals, The Cell). The studio has also cast Mare Winningham (Brothers) as Baker Margaret and Michael Lerner (Elf) as Baron.

The nine actors join the previously announced cast in which Oscar?-winner Julia Roberts plays the Queen, Lily Collins (The Blind Side) plays Snow White, Armie Hammer (The Social Network) plays Prince Andrew Alcott, and Nathan Lane (The Lion King, The Birdcage) plays the Queen’s hapless and bungling servant, Brighton. Pre-production has begun, and principal photography will start in June. The theatrical release date is set for March 16, 2012.

In Relativity’s Snow White, a spectacular reimagining of the classic fairy tale, an evil queen steals control of a kingdom, and an exiled princess enlists the help of seven resourceful rebels to win back her birthright in a spirited adventure comedy filled with jealousy, romance, and betrayal that will capture the imagination of audiences the world over.

First Concept Art From Tarsem’s ‘Snow White’ | /Film (http://www.slashfilm.com/first-concept-art-tarsem-snow-white/)

In addition, last week ComingSoon ran descriptions of other art, saying that those who appreciate Tarsem?s well-established visual style will find a lot to like.

The look of the forest in which some of the story takes place is classic in design, but the other art ?seems to draw from a wide range of inspiration, including a very Indian-looking palace and several masquerade designs reminiscent of Mardi Gras and old storybook illustrations.?
More than one costume party/masquerade is part of the plot, with bright, colorful costumes and overall design. The Prince (Armie Hammer) ?is seen in a coat and tales costume with (for the party) rabbit ears emerging from his top hat.?
As in Universal?s Snow White film, this Snow White will be a fighter who is part of a few action scenes. ?Exiled from her kingdom, she?s actively trying to win back her rightful throne and combines a blue dress with black, leather armor.?
The seven dwarfs has an identity closely tied to his costume. The site says ?Cowboy wears a cowboy hat, and Wolf is draped in animal skin and another wears a crooked top hat.?

Guillermo del Toro Would Direct ‘Maleficent’ If Disney Asked and Time Allowed | /Film (http://www.slashfilm.com/guillermo-del-toro-direct-maleficent-disney-asked-time-allowed/)

This is something that will likely go down as a bit of ?what if?? trivia. Despite the fact that scheduling and other factors caused the death of Guillermo del Toro?s Disney Double Dare You deal, it looks like he?s still interested in working for the Mouse. Or, more to the point, it sounds like the fact of not being able to make The Hobbit has left the writer/director with the desire to film a dragon, and doing so through Disney might be one way to scratch that particular itch.

Disney is developing Maleficent, a retelling of Sleeping Beauty from the perspective of the film?s fan-favorite evil witch. And when asked by the LA Times about the idea of directing the film, Guillermo del Toro said,

Let me put it this way, if they ask I?ll take the meeting? I think Maleficent?s dragon is the only design with the wings separate from the front legs, the only time that design has ever worked. And let me tell you how much of a fan I am? It?s one of my three favorite Disney films. I would love to. But I don?t want to put too many hopes on it. They?re probably on a fast track and I cannot take any more projects on a fast track.

Hurm, does this mean that the Haunted Mansion is dead? Should get a GDT update come SDCC time, hopefully.

Touch? Universal, Your SNOW WHITE Dwarf Crew Might Be Rock & Roll | CHUD.com (http://www.chud.com/58049/touche-universal-your-snow-white-dwarf-crew-might-be-rock-roll/)

Running down the list there?s a chance we?ll be seeing Eddie Izzard as the ?burly? Tiberius, Toby Jones as the ?timid? Claudius, Bob Hoskins as the blind Constantine, with Steven Graham and Eddie Marsan also being looked at for unspecified dwarf roles. If most of these casting negotiations go through, then Ian McShane?s Caesar will be leading quite a batch of stout men.

Updated, Graham was in Lock, Stock &, Snatch, and, most recently Pirates. Marsan has been in a bunch of stuff, none of which I can think of offhand(he's one of THOSE guys). The dwarves alone move this way up on the interest list.

OH HELL YEAH!!!!!!!

Nick Frost is the Final Dwarf in ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ | /Film (http://www.slashfilm.com/nick-frost-final-dwarf-snow-white-huntsman/)

Ian McShane is Caesar, the eldest. Stephen Graham is Nero, the angry one. Eddie Izzard is Tiberius, the biggest and burliest. Bob Hoskins is the blind Constantine. Toby Jones is the timid Claudius. Ray Winstone and Eddie Marsan are the twins Trajan and Hadrian.

We?ve heard that Snow White and the Huntsman, which starts shooting soon for a 2012 release, is planned as the first of a trilogy, but those plans may be relatively tentative at this point. Here?s what producer Joe Roth said about the overall approach to tweaking the old tale for this film:

We retain the basic story in the same way we retain the basic story of Alice, a young girl meant to be the queen who is cast out? The Huntsman is a mercenary, in the sense that he?s a guy who is very able in the woods, more able than most anyone. His job is to capture runaway girls, who are all fleeing the kingdom because of the queen. He?s a nondescript bounty hunter, as we first meet him? [Snow White] starts out not a damsel in distress, but innocent, and after 11 years of imprisonment by the Evil Queen, she escapes and learns the ways of a warrior in the woods

Check That: ‘Shaun Of The Dead’ Star Nick Frost Is The Final Dwarf In ‘Snow White And The Huntsman’ | Geeks of Doom (http://geeksofdoom.com/2011/07/15/check-that-shaun-of-the-dead-star-nick-frost-is-the-final-dwarf-in-snow-white-and-the-huntsman/)

Variety has reported that Nick Frost, star of movies like Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Paul, and Attack the Block, has been cast in the final dwarf role in Universal Pictures? Snow White and the Huntsman. And this is where the confusion sets in?after an amazing list of actors were announced for various dwarf roles, it was thought that the seventh and final role was then filled by Ray Winstone. Now with word of Frost being cast in the final role, heads are being scratched.

Apparently one of the drafts of the script did call for eight dwarfs instead of the expected seven, so that could be the reason why. But the report also fails to mention Eddie Izzard, who was said to be playing the part of Tiberius. Whether there will be eight dwarfs or if Izzard had to drop out it appears we?ll have to wait a bit for an answer to.

I really hope it's eight.

Comes out Oct. 28th.

Starring up and comer Emily Browing, the Jane Campion-backed film sees Leigh direct from her own 2008 Black Listed script originally described as ?a haunting erotic fairy tale about a student who drifts into prostitution and finds her niche as a woman who sleeps, drugged, in a ?Sleeping Beauty chamber? while men do to her what she can?t remember the next morning.? Mirrah Foulkes, Michael Dorman, Sarak Snook, Rachel Blake and Hugh Keays-Byrne all co-star in the pic, which recently scored a October 28th release date.

Wow, first of all I find this very disturbing and offensive that this is even being made as a movie, let alone it being called a "fairy tale." What is described up there is pretty much date rape, whether or not she is responsible for her own drugging. Seeing what I see almost everyday in my job, I just find this utterly tasteless.

And secondly, when did these adult fairy tale "remake" movie seem all the rage all of a sudden?

I guess it could have been put in the drama thread. I didn't spend that much time thinking about it.

As for the movie itself, I know very little so I won't/can't comment. I'd be interested in hearing what the (female) director's thoughts were, though.

Aren't all these properties public domain. I think that has sooooooo much to do with all of the repeat projects. FairyTales are actually supposed to be really dark. It's only with time that their teeth were removed because children were 'too young' to be told that the world was a scary place and really ****ed up things happen(also fire and good housing in urban areas removed fear of wolves and other bogens). These stories are meant to be cautionary and make children afraid of the things in the night. I like that it has come full circle and the things that a lot of these projects are addressing, such as the controversial Sleeping Beauty movie, reflect real things that children should fear in these modern times. I don't know...thought you would get that more than anyone Booby.

I don't mind the darkness of the fairy tales, I liked reading the Grimm tales. I somehow think that this is not some sort of cautionary tale where it screams "hey kids, check your drinks for roofies!" I know it's early but I can't consider something like this as art, more like smut. HOWEVER, something like this might drive more women to throw dicks down garbage disposals, soooooooo...there's a little light at the end of the tunnel.

Always finding the silver lining...

But yeah, it may be clumsy metaphorically but I just dig seeing darkness put back into popular culture. If I had a daughter I would not be against her seeing the pitfalls of trusting others in this day and age. A fairytale that preaches check your drinks is pretty much the equivalent of watch for wolves when you are walking thru the forest to grandma's. Different times, same message.

B.t.w. I'm all for tossing a guys junk down a garbage disposal(with him still attached) in the case of rape. So yeah, there's that.

Ann Peacock to Write CINDERELLA (http://collider.com/ann-peacock-cinderella/113902/)

Disney made headway on a new live-action Cinderella last month with the hire of director Mark Romanek. But as we’ve seen with the dueling Snow White movies, the appeal of fairy tales—known properties in the public domain—is too great for just one studio. Universal is throwing their hat into the ring, and according to Variety, the studio is turning to Ann Peacock for help. Peacock is in final negotiations to rewrite an “untitled reimagining of the fairy tale” from an earlier draft by Michael Dougherty. Specific plot details are under wraps, but barring any drastic changes, the premise should look familiar when Universal is ready to go public with the synopsis: a young girl is whisked away from her terrible home situation by her fairy godmother to a magical ball where she meets the aptly named Prince Charming.

Peacock’s credits are diverse, from Kit Kittredge: An American Girl to The Killing Room to an Emmy for the TV movie A Lesson Before Dying. The best comparison here is screenplay credit on the family friendly fantasy The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. She’s a solid choice—a wise move since this will be Bruno Aveillan’s first time in the director’s chair

See I told you...public domain!!!! And why hasn't Michael Trick'r'Treat Dougherty been given something else to do??????

Steinberg has experience with TV series adaptations. He most recently developed Fox’s drama Human Target based on the comic book.

Ok...enough. All fairy tales are populated by outdated standards as far as treatment of women and filled with arch characters who do dreadful things to the good and pure hearted. If you are going to apply current mores to fables that were written ages ago I have to call bull****. Cautionary tales kid...you AREN'T supposed to be cool with the wicked on display. Here we go again. :run: mhihi:

What JD said.

Yeah, most of those fairy tales are perverted and sexist, but that's what makes them appealing to kids, lol. When one is young, parents try so hard to keep the taboo away from kids, but are more than willing to tell their kids fairy tales about kids being eaten alive or burned to death, lol. And a lot of those old Disney animated movies tapped into that darkness, and now, well, it's gotten so PC that heaven forbid making scary films or stories aimed for children. Meh!

If I ever have kids, lol, I am going to read them every creepy fairy tale that I can get my flippers on. That will scare them straight!

i am all for bringing these fairytales out into the open as they were once told. i do love the Disney portrayals but they're too tamed and magical. it's good for keeping yourself or your kid from thinking that horrible things exist but that is not the reality and that is not how the story goes. when i found out about the real Little Mermaid, omg my heart sank but it was affective and i want to know every story as they were written, not the Disney verson I grew up with.

It's fun to go back to the source material that inspired those Disney films. If my memory serves me correctly, in the movie, Ariel basically goes mute when she becomes human, but in the original story, her feet hurt and bleed every time that she steps on land.

And in one of the original Hercules stories, he goes mad, and kills his whole family! :O I don't remember seeing that in the Disney movie.

I am still waiting for Disney to make a watered down version of Oedipus Rex. ;)

Writer Of Relativity’s Snow White Movie Admits Project Borne Out Of Desire To Beat ‘Huntsman’ > The Playlist (http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplaylist/archives/writer_of_relativitys_snow_white_movie_admits_proj ect_borne_out_of_desire_t/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_content=Google+Reader)

“‘Snow White’ I wrote in December 2010, and that is unheard of, in terms of writing a script and going into production when it did,” he explained. “I’m just being very frank about it ... at the end of last year, [Relativity] looked around, and they saw Universal was coming out with a Snow White. But they had a script that wasn’t really working, but they knew they wanted to try to keep that, so when they hired me, the first conversation we all had about that was, ‘How do we beat that other project?’ So it was literally something like, ‘We want to beat that other project. We are very, very motivated to do a Snow White project.’”

“I pitched them a take on it,” he said, “and in the same meeting I pitched them a take on it, Tarsem was in the room, he said, ‘I like that take,’ the studio was in the room, they said, ‘We like that take,’ and that minute, they commenced me writing — this is December — and they opened the art department, they opened the costume department, and they started scouting locations. All in the same minute! It hadn’t even been written yet! It was all because there was a derby race. And it all happened to work. I happened to write a script that was good enough in a very short enough period of time to get Julia Roberts, and we didn’t then have to wait for art and costumes because they were already going. So it was a super-cool way to write a movie.”

‘Real Steel’ Helmer Shawn Levy To Direct Pinocchio Prequel ‘The Three Misfortunes Of Geppetto’ > The Playlist (http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplaylist/archives/real_steel_helmer_shawn_levy_to_direct_pinocchio_p requel_the_three_misfortu/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_content=Google+Reader)

Deadline report that writer Michael Vukadinovich has sold a spec for a prequel to classic tale “Pinocchio,” entitled “The Three Misfortunes of Geppetto,” to 20th Century Fox and Levy’s production company 21 Laps, and Levy himself is now attached to direct the project. The script is drawing comparisons to “Big Fish” and “The Princess Bride,” and will follow the titular Geppetto, the creator of the wooden puppet who wanted to be a real boy, across a hard life as he tries to be with his one true love, a woman named Julia Moon. Because everyone’s favorite character in the story was, of course, not its wooden protagonist, but his elderly father figure. And we all had so many unanswered questions about him.

Rhys Ifans and Anna Friel NEVERLAND Interview (http://collider.com/rhys-ifans-anna-friel-neverland-interview/128199/)

From writer/director Nick Willing (Alice, Tin Man), Neverland – premiering on SyFy on December 4th and 5th – is an original prequel story to author J.M. Barrie’s classic Peter Pan. In 19th Century London, Peter (Charlie Rowe) and his young pickpocket pals are sent out by their mentor Jimmy Hook (Rhys Ifans) to steal a magical orb, which inadvertently transports them all to another world, called Neverland. This mysterious realm includes the power-mad Elizabeth Bonny (Anna Friel) and her band of 18th Century pirates, trapped and in search of the secret to the tree spirits’ magical mineral dust, in order to have the power to fly. As the fight to protect and save this strange and beautiful world escalates, Peter and his crew must face harsh realities, as they learn that never growing up might be preferable to growing up like the corrupt Hook.

During a recent interview to promote the SyFy debut of Neverland, co-stars Rhys Ifans and Anna Friel talked about how they came to be playing such captivating characters, how thrilling it was to be a part of this new backstory, showing the evolution of the Peter and Hook relationship, and what they enjoy most about working in the fantasy genre. Check out what they had to say after the jump:

Advance word on this is pretty iffy, but Ifans is one of those guys that is always worth watching.

Dorothy and the Witches of Oz: New Title, New Stills, New Release Date | Horror Movie, DVD, & Book Reviews, News, Interviews at Dread Central (http://www.dreadcentral.com/news/49566/dorothy-and-witches-oz-new-title-new-stills-new-release-date)

It’s been awhile since there’s been any news regarding Leigh Scott’s Dorothy and the Witches of Oz (formerly just Witches of Oz), but now comes word that the dark fantasy featuring the likes of Lance Henriksen, Jeffrey Combs, Mia Sara, Billy Boyd, Sean Astin, and Christopher Lloyd as “The Wizard of Oz” is getting a limited US theatrical release this February.

Dorothy and the Witches of Oz follows the exploits of the grown Dorothy Gale (Paulie Rojas), now a successful children's book author, as she moves from Kansas to present day New York City. Dorothy quickly learns that her popular books are based on repressed childhood memories, and that the wonders of Oz are very, very real. When the Wicked Witch of the West shows up in Times Square, Dorothy must find the inner courage to stop her.

Though Witches of Oz has already received a DVD release in the UK and been released in a longer mini-series format in parts of Europe, Palace/Imaginarium have given the film a minor title change and will be giving a feature-length cut of the film with upgraded special effects a theatrical run in February with an American DVD release to follow. A new trailer reflecting these changes is due to hit the web shortly after the New Year.

Until then, here are some new production stills from Dorothy and the Witches of Oz.

Interesting. Kinda flew under the radar. Probably a glorified 'b' movie, but that cast is pretty good and just to see Christopher LLoyd as the wizard should be worth it.

Tim Burton Out, Robert Stromberg In For Angelina Jolie’s Maleficent | Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors (http://www.bleedingcool.com/2012/01/06/tim-burton-robert-stromberg-angelina-jolie-disney-sleeping-beauty-maleficent/)

For a while, Tim Burton was going to direct Maleficent, the topsy-turvy take on Sleeping Beauty that will refocus on the evil queen and let the docile blonde get on with sawing logs. Coming after Alice in Wonderland it would have been his second revision of an old Disney toon, as well as his second collaboration with screenwriter Linda Woolverton.

But Burton passed, and it was up to Angelina Jolie to keep the project afloat. She’s been attached to star pretty much from day one, and still is. I can see why it’s an attractive role – just like Cleopatra, who she may be playing soon for David Fincher, or the action heroine in a Luc Besson film, which Ms. Jolie also has on her dance card.

Deadline report that her new director on the film is to be Robert Stromberg, making his directorial debut. Recently, he served as a production designer on Avatar, Oz: The Great and Powerful and… Alice in Wonderland. He’s also got over twenty years of FX credits under his belt, mainly in a visual design and matte painting capacity. In short: he’s going to know a lot of ways to conjure up a fantasy world, and that’s going to be a key skill set here.

I only hope he’s also got the chops when it comes to staging and editing scenes, working with actors and threading the narrative along. Time will tell.

You put your Burton in...you put your Burton out...

Tim Burton May Direct PINOCCHIO for Warner Bros.; Robert Downey Jr. Courted to Star (http://collider.com/tim-burton-robert-downey-jr-pinocchio/135807/)

Competing projects with the same premise (usually based on a fairy tale) has become a thing as of late, and a new race has just kicked into high gear. Director Tim Burton is interested in directing Warner Bros.’ take on Pinocchio, and he has his eye on Robert Downey Jr. to star as Geppetto. The film tells the story of the woodcarver’s quest to reunite with his missing marionette. While it’s easy to roll one’s eyes at a project like this, the Black List script was written by Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller. If it’s anywhere near the delightfully charming tone of his ill-fated television series, this Pinocchio take could make for quite the feature film. Throw in Burton and Downey Jr. and that’s a whole lot of whimsy. Hit the jump for more.

Heat Vision reports that Burton is currently in talks to direct the film, and Downey Jr. is his first choice to star. Downey Jr. has apparently expressed serious interest in the project, but his busy schedule first has to be worked out. Warner Bros. is hoping that both sign on soon so they can fast track the project, but if Burton decides to choose one of his other lingering projects as his next directorial effort (like Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children), the studio may move on to another director.

Then there’s the issue of Downey Jr.’s schedule. His next project is most likely Iron Man 3, and Marvel understandably wants to get production going as soon as possible. There’s no official word on when Pinocchio would shoot, but it would have to be soon for Downey Jr. to be able to fit it in. Personally, I like the idea of Burton and Downey Jr. teaming up on a Bryan Fuller script. They’re three of the more imaginative minds in the business and should cook up quite the epic fairy tale.

As I said before, Pinocchio kicks off a bit of a competing project race with director Shawn Levy (Real Steel) attached to direct the Pinocchio prequel The Three Misfortunes of Geppetto. That film also centers on Geppetto, but it tells the story of his quest to reunite with his true love (who is a woman, not a puppet). Levy has yet to decide on his next project, so whether Fox kicks The Three Misfortunes of Geppetto into high gear following this Warner Bros. announcement remains to be seen.

Renner stars in this May?s The Avengers and will get his shot at the lead with this fall?s The Bourne Legacy, so the studio may want to capitalize on his stardom by placing Hansel and Gretal after these two major releases. Harvey Weinstein recently admitted to doing the same with The Wettest County, which stars Tom Hardy. The release date was moved to after The Dark Knight Rises comes out in order to capitalize on Hardy?s recognition following his turn as Bane. Hansel and Gretel currently has no competition on the January 11th date, but the Arnold Schwarzenegger actioner The Last Stand, the 3D re-release of Monsters Inc., the Russell Crowe drama Broken City, and the star-studded magician heist flick Now You See Me all open the following weekend.

Why Tarsem Singh is 'really angry' about Mirror Mirror's trailers | Blastr (http://blastr.com/2012/03/why-tarsem-singh-is-reall.php)

Immortals director Tarsem Singh—who's well known for his visual style (also see The Cell and The Fall)—is really angry about all those Mirror Mirror trailers. Really, really angry. And here's why.

"I'm really angry at the trailers," the director told Digital Spy. "I'm a director, I guess, so I always get pissed at them! The movie looks fantastic and the trailers look so hammily off.

"The posters are okay, they're still neutral, but we're trying to get the film out there so people don't judge it by the trailer."

We have to agree with Singh here, since from the trailers we've seen so far, Mirror Mirror—which stars Julia Roberts as the Evil Queen and Lily Collins as Snow White—appears far more farcical and comical (Singh admits his film is more geared for family viewing) than the other film it's really in competition with—the upcoming Snow White and the Huntsman—which looks, let's face it, kinda awesomer.

Singh also admits that he doesn't have any real control over how the trailers are cut: "I backed away from it a bit. I fought that fight on Immortals and I found that I was taking my eye off the movie. I said I'll fight for the movie, but marketing can fight for how you want to sell it."

I'd be pissed too. It looks like canned ass.

Not often does Hollywood put out movies romanticizing tyrannicide and the assassination of foreign leaders of friendly countries, in this case India. Julia Roberts is the wicked Queen, witch, and false pretender, but actually the stand-in for Indira Gandhi, with an uncanny resemblance of look and dress in the final scene (I wonder if anyone told her?). This movie presents a romanticized and idealized version of how her assassination should have proceeded and should have been processed, namely in a triumphal manner with no reprisals but rather celebration and joyous union and love. As the plot proceeds, you will find all sorts of markers of Sikh theology, including numerous references to daggers, hair, mirrors, water, immersions, submersions, bodily penetrations, transformations, the temple at Amritsar, dwarves who enlarge themselves, and the notion of woman as princess, among many others; director Tarsem Singh knows this material better than I do (read up on Sikh theology before you go, if you haven’t already). The silly critics complained that the plot didn’t make sense, but from the half dozen or so reviews I read they didn’t even begin to understand the movie.

Without wishing to take sides on either the politics or the religion, I found this a daring and remarkable film. The sad thing is that no one is paying attention.

Interesting.

Snow White and the Huntsman (2012) | Horror Movie, DVD, & Book Reviews, News, Interviews at Dread Central (http://www.dreadcentral.com/reviews/snow-white-and-huntsman-2012)

The one thing missing out on all the marketing is that the film has a lighter side; that comic relief comes in the form of an all-star cast of dwarves that includes a gaggle of beloved actors including Ian McShane, Ray Winstone, Toby Jones, Nick Frost and Bob Hoskins. Seriously, these guys make the movie and then some and for those wondering, they are most definitely not your typical Disney-style dwarves either; they like to drink, dance, pillage- oh, and they kick some ass too.

And while there's a lot to like about Snow White and the Huntsman, the film does suffer from a few flaws that are hard to overlook. With a two hour plus running time, Sanders should have spent a little more time in the editing room as parts of the film's first and second acts lag at times. The other issue with the flick is that the final showdown scene between Snow White and Ravenna (as well as the aftermath that follows) feels insanely rushed, especially for a movie with this kind of running time. The fight between our leading ladies ends up coming off a bit flat and a lot of the characters end up getting lost in the shuffle during the film's final moments. Neither truly derails the flick but it would have been nice if the film could have delivered on all fronts, not just a few.

But overall, Snow White and the Huntsman makes for a great summer popcorn flick that may actually end up surprising some of you out there who may not have been clamoring to see the latest film featuring 'the chick from Twilight.' Sanders does a great job of blending the traditional plot points of this timeless tale and injecting some new material in all the right places. It's not without a few flaws here and there but as a whole, Snow White and the Huntsman is one summer blockbuster that shouldn't put you to sleep.

Ok, only highlighting the good reviews cause they are harder to find. Not trying to sway opinions.

I thought Snow White and the Huntsman was above average.

I appreciated that it drew it's storytelling inspiration from Tolkien and Miyazaki, a bold choice for Snow White and for a main stream summer blockbuster. It has a ton of great elements, but it does a couple things very wrong which keeps it from being a film I actively liked as opposed to a film that a passively don't dislike.

I really want to dig into an art book though, the production and costume design in this movie was stellar.

This was a chore. WAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYTOOOOOOOOOOOOLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG. I have seen directors in love with their work, but this takes the cake. Great visuals just get lost after a while when NOTHING happens. So, casting Kristen Stewart...Snow White is supposed to inspire men to fight, the creatures of the forest to love her, etc. and yet all she seems to be able to do is stare longingly at people with a sentence appearing to start and then just die on her lips. All she inspired me to do was check my watch. No charisma whatsoever. Thor does little better. The characters and their interactions seem to only be sparsely written pieces to move the visuals along. The Dwarves are ok. Not used enough and also so minescule dialogue/explanation wise...just wasted.

So...Charlize Theron. First off, full disclosure...never really thought she was a great actress. But this is such a blatant RAZZIE sweeping performance. Lines are either whispered, with every syllable dragged out. Or, shouted/growled with full scenery chewing mode in effect. Sometimes that can work(see Legend/Tim Curry) and I commend her for trying to do anything with, once again, a poorly written part...but by the end of the movie I was actually laughing everytime she came on screen. I think she spent a lot of time modeling her performance on Faye Dunaway in Mommie Dearest(minus the subtlety).

Yeah, pass.

Actually did this a disservice by not adding the pic, it's pretty stunning actually and yeah it does bode well.

Principal photography has begun on the Sleeping Beauty re-imagining Maleficent, and Disney has released the first shot of Angelina Jolie as the eponymous horned sorceress. For those who are unfamiliar with the film, here?s the brief logline: ?This is the untold story of Disney?s most beloved villain, Maleficent, from the 1959 classic ?Sleeping Beauty.? The film reveals the events that hardened her heart and drove her to curse the baby, Aurora.?

Fairy tale TV gets crowded as Peter Pan's Lost Boys get a series | Blastr (http://blastr.com/2012/06/get-ready-for-more-fairy.php)

It's about time the Lost Boys got some screen time, and we're not talking about Kiefer Sutherland and Corey Haim. We're referring to the group of bandits who appear in J.M. Barrie's classic Peter Pan. The group of unruly misfits are getting their own show.

The series is called The League of Pan, and it follows in the footsteps of Grimm, Once Upon a Time and the upcoming Beauty and the Beast. It's another modernized take on characters pulled from popular children's stories.

The League of Pan is based on an idea from writer Brian McCauley Johnson. It's a re-imagining of Barrie's original story that takes place 10 years after the Lost Boys left Neverland. It will have all the fairy-tale elements we love, paired with more serious themes.

Over time, the Lost Boys have been portrayed in many different ways. In the first incarnation of the play they were listed as Tootles, Nibs, Slightly, Curly, and the Twins. In Steven Spielberg's 1991 adaptation Hook, we were introduced to Rufio, Thud Butt, Pockets, Ace, Don't Ask, Too Small, Latchboy and No Nap. We wonder which lineup the writers will use for this show?

Imagine TV and 20th TV is currently looking for a co-writer and showrunner to help produce the pilot.

Producer Neal Moritz Turning ‘Sleeping Beauty’ Into A Stalker Comedy | Geeks of Doom (http://www.geeksofdoom.com/2012/07/16/producer-neal-moritz-turning-sleeping-beauty-into-a-stalker-comedy/)

As expected, we’re in the middle of a rush of fairy tale-inspired movies. From Snow White and the lands of Oz, to Peter Pan and Jack and the Beanstalk, they’ve all got projects on the way. Most of them have multiple new takes on the stories coming from various studios.

Another fairy tale, Sleeping Beauty, also has new versions of the story on the the way, but producer Neal Moritz wants to take it in a completely different direction.

Moritz wants to take the Sleeping Beauty fable and turn it into a psycho stalker comedy. Why not!

In his version, a man would accidentally wake up the long-slumbering woman. But when he does she becomes infatuated with him, and no matter where he goes or what he does, she follows closely behind. Mike Gagerman and Andrew Waller are currently working on a first draft of the script.

Now that I think of it...NO presence at all for Bryan Singer's Jack the Giant Killer. Outside of a trailer a few months back there has been NO word on that one. Ruh-Roh.

We're Going to Get a Look at Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters Soon | Shock Till You Drop (http://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news/169035-were-going-to-get-a-look-at-hansel-and-gretel-witch-hunters-soon)

You remember Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, yes? The horror-action-fantasy starring Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton was supposed to open earlier this year, however, its release was pushed back a full year to January 11, 2013.

We have learned today that a trailer from Paramount is just around the corner, clocking in at just over two minutes. So, no teaser, just a full trailer.

The film, directed by Tommy Wirkola (Dead Snow), stars Renner, Arterton, Famke Janssen and Peter Stormare.

The story take place 15 years after the siblings' incident at the gingerbread house. The two are now specialized bounty hunters looking to put down the cackling black-hat set.

CW Developing Modern 'Alice In Wonderland' With McG And Chad Hodge - Deadline.com (http://www.deadline.com/2012/09/cw-series-alice-in-wonderland-wunderland-mcg-development/)

The CW is jumping down a rabbit hole to Wunderland, putting in development a contemporary reimagining of Alice In Wonderland. Fittingly, Wunderland hails from McG‘s Warner Bros TV-based production company Wonderland Sound And Vision, in association with WBTV. Written by The Playboy Club creator Chad Hodge, the drama project centers on a young female detective in present-day Los Angeles who discovers another world that exists under the surface of this ultra-modern city. Hodge will write the script and executive produce with McG and Wonderland’s Peter Johnson. This is one of two public domain properties the CW is developing as potential drama series for next season, along with Sleepy Hollow, which also is being produced by WBTV.

Review: 'Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters' Isn't Boring, But It Is Unrelentingly Stupid | The Playlist (http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplaylist/review-hansel-gretel-witch-hunters-isnt-boring-but-it-is-unrelentingly-stupid-20130125?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_content=Google+Reader)

The film is nauseating in 3D, and makes ample, almost comical use of the format, missing not a single opportunity for wood shards or arrows or buckshot to fly at the audience. The fight scenes are cut too quickly and with too much camera movement to even discern what is happening. It’s messy, blurry, and motion sickness-inducing. Written and directed by Tommy Wirkola, it’s unclear if Wirkola himself read the script before the shoot. Not only is not even a single character more than one-dimensional, but every line falls flatter than a witch dispatched with a Gatling gun. There are many problems with 'Hansel & Gretel,' and every one of them leads back to the dud of a script they are working with, where the anachronistic dialogue never found a place it couldn’t shoehorn in a “****” or “****” (gotta make that R-rating count!). Famke Janssen says, “Once upon a time, in a ****ty little town,” (and we can’t help but steal the words right out of her mouth for this) and unfortunately, "...there was a really ****ty movie." [D]

Kenneth Branagh May Take Over For Mark Romanek On Disney's Cinderella - Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors (http://www.bleedingcool.com/2013/01/31/kenneth-branagh-may-take-over-for-mark-romanek-on-disneys-cinderella/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+BleedingCool+%28Bleeding+Cool +Comic+News+%26+Rumors%29)

Vulture reports Kenneth Branagh is negotiating to take over directing duties and this seems like a great fit, perhaps even greater than Romanek, who reportedly left the project because his vision was deemed too “dark” for such a family-favorite tale.

Would have liked to have seen Romanek's version, but Branagh is a great choice.

s for casting, which had just gotten underway under Romanek, Cate Blanchett is still on board to play Cinderella’s evil stepmother, while no Cinderella has been found yet. Last we heard, Saoirse Ronan, Alicia Vikander and Gabriella Wilde were all vying for the part

Paramount Moving Forward with HANSEL & GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS Sequel | Collider (http://collider.com/hansel-gretel-witch-hunters-2-sequel/)

Paramount Pictures is now officially developing a sequel to this past January?s R-rated genre pic Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters. You?d be forgiven for being a bit surprised at the news, as the film was a flop domestically with a total gross of just $54.6 million. However, overseas the film has now taken in over $150 million. Against a purported budget of $50 million, the pic?s worldwide gross of $205 million is apparently enough to justify moving forward with the follow-up, as Deadline reports that a sequel is now officially in development...

Tommy Wirkola wrote and directed the first film, but it?s unknown if he?ll be returning for the sequel. Stars Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton are presumably under contract to reprise their roles, but Paramount could also go another route (direct to DVD/VOD, new cast, etc.). At this point the sequel is only ?in development,? so there?s no guarantee that it?ll actually come to fruition. I never saw the first film so I can?t speak to whether a follow-up is warranted or not, but I can?t envision Renner being too happy about coming back to make a sequel to a movie that domestic audiences rejected outright.

There’s a good chance that you had no idea that a new live-action re-telling of the Beauty and the Beast (or La Belle et la Bete) story was on the way, but after seeing this new trailer, expect to want to see more.

The movie comes from director Christophe Gans, whose previous credits include Brotherhood of the Wolf and the first Silent Hill movie, and stars Lea Seydoux, who’s been seen in Inglourious Basterds, Robin Hood, Midnight in Paris, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Blue is the Warmest Color, and the upcoming Grand Budapest Hotel, and Vincent Cassel, who’s known from movies like Elizabeth, Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen, Eastern Promises, Black Swan, A Dangerous Method, and Trance.

Be sure to click on over to the other side now to watch the trailer for La Belle et la Bete and read a synopsis.

MALEFICENT Review; MALEFICENT Stars Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning (http://collider.com/maleficent-review/)

Admittedly, this is really Jolie’s show, and she’s clearly having a blast when the movie lets her act instead of devouring her with the scenery. Jolie, when given the opportunity, can give great performances, but that seems secondary to what Stromberg is trying to accomplish. She’s a vehicle for set pieces and moving to new locales. Maleficent is a perfect fit for this movie not because she’s a good character for a redemption story, but because she can conjure CGI animation. The best scene in the film (and the one that’s in almost all of the trailers) is the recreation of the christening scene from Sleeping Beauty. It’s on a practical set with very few visual effects, and it’s mainly an interaction between Maleficent and Stefan. The scene with the greatest impact isn’t the one filled with CGI wizardly; it’s the one that relies on human performances.

I’m not against movies with plenty of CGI because most blockbusters are these days. Green screen is the present-day matte painting. But those paintings and effects are meant to service the story, not vice-versa. The movie has a worthwhile take on a famous character because villains can be more interesting when they’re misunderstood rather than bad for the sake of being bad. Maleficent is one of Disney’s best villains, and this film had the opportunity to give her new life. But Maleficent isn’t really an adaptation of Sleeping Beauty. It’s an adaptation of a screen saver.

Rating: C-

Thanks for the heads up on the extras, probably gonna see this weekend and its good to know I can go with the standard version.

11 Notes About Christopher Walkens Pic as Captain Hook (http://www.hitfix.com/comedy/11-notes-about-christopher-walkens-pic-as-captain-hook)

1. Apparently Never Never Land is just a mural in your dentist's office.

2. It's hard to be scared of Captain Hook when he looks like Weird Al Yankovic dancing the hora.

3. "Captain Hook" is apparently code for "Jafar's aunt who works at a Renaissance Faire."

4. It's as if Steven Spielberg wanted to remake "Hook" for people who complained it wasn't embarrassing enough.

5. This could be an A.A. Milne short story called "Fabulous Christopher Robin vs. Drag Queen Eeyore."
6. This might just be a horror film where Justin Bieber slays Prince.

7. Is that Captain Hook's "scary" face? He looks he's scolding us for forgetting to walk the dog.

8. I guess Peter Pan is threatening to do a wonderful balance beam routine all over Captain Hook.

9. I can't decide whether this is a movie or a spooky miniature golf course.

10. Did you know Captain Hook is just a lost member of Twisted Sister? I didn't.

11. Walt Disney is thawing in his grave.

Cinderella had a BIG weekend...so,

Live-Action BEAUTY AND THE BEAST Set for March 17, 2017
http://collider.com/beauty-and-the-beast-live-action-release-date/

After Cinderella crushed the box office this weekend, Disney will try to reclaim the mid-March weekend in two years with another live-action adaptation of one of their classic animated films. The studio has announced that Bill Condon’s Beauty and the Beast will open in 3D on March 17, 2017.

Per the press release “The beloved tale will be retold for the big screen with a modern live-action lens and the help of transformative CG magic.” I absolutely adore the 1991 animated version so phrases like “modern live action lens” and “transformative CG magic” make my stomach turn, but I’m oddly willing to give Condon’s film the benefit of the doubt simply because I thought Cinderella would be awful and it turned out to be a nice movie.

Disney has also announced that the film has added two more talented actors to the cast. Emma Thompson will play Mrs. Potts and Kevin Kline will play Belle’s father Maurice. Emma Watson has already been cast as Belle alongside Dan Stevens as Beast/Prince and Luke Evans as Gaston. While I have no problem seeing Emma Watson as Belle—the 1991 character and Hermoine share the similar qualities of being brainy and kind—but casting Mrs. Potts raises a question I hadn’t thought about before with regards to the film.
In Cinderella, Branagh used CGI mice to convey the personality of those characters. They didn’t talk or sing, but that wasn’t a problem. I’m not exactly sure how you do that with a teapot. You can anthropomorphize it in an animated film because just about anything can anthropomorphized in animation. But blended with live-action, it can easily go creepy. A talking teapot with a human face is the stuff of nightmares.

It will also be a singing teapot. The original songs will get new recordings along with several new tunes written by Alan Menken and Tim Rice. While Cinderella ditched the music, I don’t think remaining a musical is inherently a strike against Beauty and the Beast, especially since the music is so wonderful. I’m curious to see how Menken and Rice can improve upon perfection, especially when they’re without the late Howard Ashman, who provided the lyrics for the 1991 version (not that Rice is a slouch; he did the music for The Lion King and Aladdin).

I will continue to hope that Condon can at least match Branagh’s accomplishment: making a solid film that doesn’t bastardize the original

CANNES — Once upon a time there were fairy tales that were strange and horrific. Fairy tales that were meant to entertain and to enlighten. Fairy tales that weren't just meant for young children. Italian filmmaker Matteo Garrone takes you back to that time with "Tale of Tales," his loose adaptation of Giambattista Basile's "The Tale of Tales, or Entertainment for Little Ones," which screened Wednesday night at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. The result is a slightly bumpy two hours of storytelling, but it's peppered with wonder and unexpected humor.

Review: Lead-footed 'Pan' smothers the whimsy with a wrong-headed script
Read more at http://www.hitfix.com/motion-captured/review-lead-footed-pan-smothers-the-whimsy-with-a-wrong-headed-script#TBrsOLDYlS4wviWb.99

But there is no equally interesting or worthwhile question at the heart of "Pan." Instead, the question here appeared to be: what if we came up with a huge labored backstory for Peter Pan so we could make at least three movies out of it? I do not understand the world of this movie, and neither does director Joe Wright. You're dead in the water if your fantasy world doesn't feel real, and when you've got something as well-defined as Neverland, it seems hard to screw up. That makes it even more impressive to see how much they miss the mark here. It starts with the first moment where they arrive in Neverland, when the flying pirate ship that abducted Peter (Levi Miller) flies him and the other boys to the fairy crystal mines where there are hundreds of orphans from around the world, all pressed into service by Blackbeard (Hugh Jackman). The scene is done as a musical number, with all the extras singing the song together. Now, keep in mind, the film takes place during WWII. That is carefully established in elaborate scenes at the start of the film. The song that the entire small army of extras sings together is Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit," and the scene builds and builds as Blackbeard is introduced for the first time, and by the time he joins the chant, "Here we are now, entertain us," he does Russian kicks and hypes up the crowd even more. That is a real thing that happens in the film. A few scenes later, there's a few bars of another musical number, this time set to "Blitzkrieg Bop" by the Ramones.

AND THEN NO ONE EVER SINGS AGAIN, AND THERE IS NO MENTION OF THE SINGING, AND THERE IS NO EXPLANATION FOR THE MODERN SONGS IN A WWII FILM THAT ISN'T, BY ANY OTHER STANDARDS, A MUSICAL.

‘The Jungle Book’: 20 Things to Know about Jon Favreau’s New Adaptation
http://collider.com/the-jungle-book-jon-favreau-things-to-know/

Jungle Book, the Disney version is very dear to me, so this is potentially heartbreaking one way or the other for me. I like what I have seen so far, but the reluctance to show the animal REALLY interacting has me concerned. The new teaser has Bill Murray whistling a few bars of The Bare Necessities, without actualy showing it. I want to assume they are just trying to hold the reveal...but until i see how it works, I will remain concerned. I do trust Favreau...because the cgi work on the initial Iron Man was pretty seamless. And this article shows that a LOT of thought and work went into world building on this. I do look forward to it, as well as the still in development Andy Serkis directed, more mature take that is in the pipeline...but it is definitely going to be VERY HARD to compete with Disney's version, which, if you have not seen...get your hands on the Diamond edition. It's spectacular.

As an event film that thrives on creating a sense of wonder rather than rich story, "The Jungle Book" is more than an incremental step forward in the digital effects arms race, with spectacular end-game images establishing a new high bar for digital reproduction of real-world animals and environments. The strikingly realistic scenery is dappled with color, light and shadow to create dramatic stages for masterful character animations— if only the story played out on this impeccably-realized fantasy had the same persuasive command. There’s very little in “The Huntsman: Winter's War” itself that is actively bad. Compared to some of its blockbuster rivals, it’s reasonably watchable, never offensive, and mostly coherent. It does what it needs to do, namely “be another movie with the word huntsman in the title.” But it also feels like a prime example of so much of what’s so bad about studio movies today: pursuing franchises at the expense of all else (down to a cravenly sequel-chasing last line), wasting good talent on material that’s unworthy of them, falling back on CGI rather than story, filmmaking driven by committee rather than vision. And as such, despite the fitful moments of charm or craft, it’s an impossible movie to root for. [C-]

Is Andy Serkis' Jungle Book Doomed? | Fandemonium
Read more at http://www.hitfix.com/the-dartboard/is-andy-serkis-jungle-book-doomed-fandemonium#0EhSLzrZyf4IJJp1.99

In what we can only imagine is related news, the competing Warner Brothers Jungle Book movie from director Andy Serkis has been pushed back by a year to 2018. Serkis has been talking about the film recently, saying that what will distinguish their film is that it will be "darker" in tone.

If you've seen Disney's Jungle Book then you may have noted that there are some genuinely grim and scary moments, particularly for children. Serkis said that his film would be far more aimed at adults, more along the lines of a Planet of the Apes movie. Yet, he also mentioned that it's sometimes beneficial to scare children.

I love Serkis and can't wait to see what he does as a director, but in all honesty it sounds as if both he and the studio now feel backed into a corner in a match that it's going to be very hard to win. If the idea is to create a film that's adult in nature, then why not make the one he's been aching to for years?

Read more at http://www.hitfix.com/the-dartboard/is-andy-serkis-jungle-book-doomed-fandemonium#0EhSLzrZyf4IJJp1.99

I get the feeling that Serkis' version was/is supposed to be more subversive and less the family friendly version than was expected from Disney/Favreau. Also smaller in scope and ambition. Maybe more Animal Farm than Jungle Book. But the critical and commercial success of Favreau's version really has put Serkis behind the eight ball. I wouldn't be horribly surprised if this gets shelved.

While Disney’s version is said to be a mixture of the animated film and the literary ballad, Sony’s Mulan is being targeted more towards an international audience. This one will certainly have a female lead, while Sony Pictures International Productions will be handling the project. Jason Keller wrote the script, which is funny considering how his Mirror, Mirror was being developed and released around the same time as Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman. Now he finds himself in a similar situation

I didn't realize there were TWO versions of this being developed. Do we really need two? And what a minefield to navigate with everyone's hypersensitivity. Good luck with that.

Will Smith May Star in Live-Action ‘Dumbo’ Movie; What Does This Mean for ‘Bad Boys 3’?
http://collider.com/will-smith-dumbo-live-action-tim-burton/#disney

Smith would take on the role of a father whose children fall in love with the titular elephant at the circus. Variety notes that Tom Hanks has also been approached for a villain role, but the Sully actor may instead decide to star in the World War II drama Greyhound.

Ugh. Why are you making this? It already bears almost no relation to the original. Sounds more like the template used for Pete's Dragon remake. Tim Burton...pfeh. Dumbo is my go to reduce me to a bawling child flick. This is so unecessary. Now, if he were playing one of the crows...but wait, that's racist. BUT IT WAS PART OF THE ORIGINAL. Why are you remaking something that you have to change so damned much about?????? What's the point? Oh yeah, trading on beloved memories from a different time for a bundle o'cash.

I don't wanna sound racist, but who is he gonna play, one of the Crows? mhihi: ;)

Can we expect a Dumbo Drop remake one day? Sigh. :fpalm:

The New ‘Beauty And The Beast’ Should Satisfy Most Fans
http://uproxx.com/movies/beauty-and-the-beast-review/

But then, this happened...

A Movie Theater Has Canceled ‘Beauty And The Beast’ Due To Its Gay Character
http://uproxx.com/movies/beauty-and-the-beast-gay-movie-theater-wont-show/

From the Facebook post the theater owners put up on Facebook:

As of December 16th the Henagar Drive-In is under new ownership. Movies scheduled prior to that date and four weeks after this date were not scheduled by the new owners. That being said…It is with great sorrow that I have to tell our customers that we will not be showing Beauty and the Beast at the Henagar Drive-In when it comes out. When companies continually force their views on us we need to take a stand. We all make choices and I am making mine. For those that do not know Beauty and the Beast is “premiering” their first homosexual character. The producer also says at the end of the movie “there will be a surprise for same-sex couples”. If we can not take our 11 year old grand daughter and 8 year old grandson to see a movie we have no business watching it. If I can’t sit through a movie with God or Jesus sitting by me then we have no business showing it. I know there will be some that do not agree with this decision. That’s fine. We are first and foremost Christians. We will not compromise on what the Bible teaches. We will continue to show family oriented films so you can feel free to come watch wholesome movies without worrying about sex, nudity, homosexuality and foul language. Thank you for your support!

So...no gays, but I would imagine cursing and extreme violence are acceptable. Because after all...religion.

Saw "Beauty and the Beast" this weekend.

It was fine as a live action remake. No new ground broken there, really.

The gay thing was way overblown.

Emma Watson looks AMAZING, which is pretty much my entire reason for going and it was worth it.

Took in Beauty and the Beast yesterday. In a word it was amazing. It was ingrained in me due to having two daughters grow up loving the animated version. Watson and the entire cast were great. And the "Be Our Guest" performance was very well done.

Ewan McGregor in Talks to Lead Disney’s Live-Action ‘Winnie the Pooh’
http://collider.com/ewan-mcgregor-winnie-the-pooh-movie-disney/

Per THR, Ewan McGregor is in talks to star in Christopher Robin, otherwise known as the live-action Winnie the Pooh movie. The film picks up with the titular character as an adult businessman who’s now lost all sense of imagination and is instead focused on his work…that is until Pooh shows up at his door one day with a new adventure. It’s basically a Hook remake.

Well hell...I don't know if this needs to be, but it's already hurting my heart in that special way that only Pooh bear can.

How can you not know?
1. Rape of a childhood classic
2. Clich? 'adult has forgotten his childhood imagination' plot
3. Yet another live action version of a cartoon

Now it just needs to cast a YouTube 'star', hire a director in over his head while having studio interference destroy whatever unique vision led to his hiring, butcher a classic song with an autotuned remake by some Disney channel actress, and have 57 writers throw a script full of generic clich?s together.
