Didn't see anything about this on here.

The LA Galaxy (in David Beckham's final game with the team) won the MLS Cup 2012 on Saturday. I was there to watch it, pretty fun... only my 2nd soccer game attended.

They got to hold up the Philip Anschutz Trophy

The weird thing is... AEG not only owns the Galaxy, they are also partial owners of the Houston Dynamo, the team they beat.

Did you try looking in the soccer section of the forum in the Official 2012 MLS Season Thread?

LOL true but it's all in the "AEG Family"... :banasmoke:

2nd championship in L.A. this year... maybe the Lakers and Dodgers can make it 4?

Trying to make this thread relevant for Kings hockey, so here goes:

The Galaxy went back-to-back. Maybe the Kings can too. Of course, the Galaxy didn't have to overcome the Kings biggest obstacle at the moment: the lockout.

I'd rather talk about Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles in this HOCKEY forum than the LA Galaxy. Don't get me wrong I actually do like soccer but this section is called "Home Ice" not "Home Field".

Why you guys so hard on the newbi....

Remember the LA Kings and the LA Galaxy are up for sale.

I think Becks is getting the Galaxy.

The Kings don't even have any games to show their stuff.

So? Does that mean create a soccer thread in the KINGS ONLY TALK section? That's like going to an apples forum and talking about oranges.

I hope I'm not getting the story wrong (calls for corrections or confirmations), but I think at one point AEG owned most of the teams in the MLS. One of the contingencies to the USA hosting the World Cup was that they have their own soccer league within a decade, and Uncle Phil stepped up to accommodate that stipulation. The league has actually come a long way in a fairly short period of time, and AEG's team ownership stake is, at this point, a fraction of what it once was.

As for the match, it was awesome to experience live, maybe even better than last season. It certainly was a different game than last year, and very exciting, especially in the first half. How the air went out of that stadium when Carr scored the opener was memorable, and, of course, how it built and erupted in the second was even more memorable.

So, yeah, that's one LA title defense in the bag...
