Fifa's president says the organisation still has enough time to switch the 2022 World Cup to the winter to avoid Qatar's intense summer heat.

Sepp Blatter said he would discuss the plans with his executive committee in October.

The move would cause major disruption to various domestic leagues around the world.

But Blatter insisted: "We still have enough time.

Well maybe, only 9 years to go but yes most leagues do play in the winter.
I was at the Women's World Cup in Pasadena in 1999, 106 degrees in the stands, 118 degrees on the field. The Qatar stadium has A/C, yes the entire stadium, they might be a bit short so go fill up your gas tank..

If only there was a way to have known that it would be THAT hot in the summer in Qatar when the host country was selected....

Hmm, since everyone else will be playing in their respective leagues, we could put in a LGK team!

This was really the only reason I was kind of excited about selecting Qatar.

Australia should have a shot at it. Ridiculous that Mexico, France, Germany, Italy and Brazil have held the world cup twice ahead of the country that invented it though.

Also wondering what Qatar will do about gay people wanting to watch the World cup, currently illegal over-there.

I'm pretty sure if I was gay (or jewish), I wouldn't even consider going to Qatar.

That should be a major reason for not giving them the world cup, but this is Fifa and money talks.

This is the kinda thing you can do with oil money.

Or you can buy a team in Manchester.
