Not sure if anyone is interested, but Ontario has a indoor professional soccer team. Remember the LA Lazers from back in the day? They used to play at the Great Western Forum. The inaugural game for the Ontario Fury is later this month. Cheapest tickets are only $10. I'll be attending. It should be pretty cool to check out. Soccer meets hockey is how I see it. Here's a few links to check out:

P.S. I'm in no way affiliated with the team. I'm just trying to get some interest for something new and exciting for us 909ers. Anyone else gonna check this out?

I used to go to many Lazer games as well. Do you guys remember Beto and Batata? They lived 5 houses down from me and Batata had two sons and a daughter. One of the sons was my age and I was an avid AYSO soccer player growing up, so this was pretty bad ass to have these guys living on my street!!! I would go to their practices with them (out in Diamond Bar), and would go to as many games as I could with them (as long as my homework was done). They were very gracious people and often had pool parties at their house with practically the entire Los Angeles Lazer team in attendance.

Anyhow, this thread just brought back some awesome memories! I may have to go check out a game this season, does Anaheim still have a team?

I, however, am affiliated with the team... And if anyone does want to go, please give me a shout (either here, or at bnorris@ontariofury.com). If you want to bring a group out, it's only 10 or more people to qualify for the group rate ($2 off any of the lower bowl tickets - $18 for midfield, $13 for the corners or $8 for behind the goal).

Right now, I am putting together a friends/family/acquaintance group for the Oct. 26 game in the $18 seats. If any of you are interested, feel free to drop me an email and I can include you in the group, and we'll work out the payment via the team or PayPal, then get tickets out.

And if any of you have children in schools in the 909, we have the Health's A Kick assembly program where the players and coaches come out and talk about healthy living. The kids get "homework" to fill out, and if they turn it into the school, they get a free ticket. Here's a video from our first assembly program:

Sorry for the shameless plug, but we're hoping to get as many sports fans out to see indoor soccer Oct. 26 and beyond.

No, Anaheim does not have a team this season. They had the Anaheim Bolts, who played at the convention center the last two seasons, but the ownership group dissolved. The coach/president of the Ontario team, Bernie Lilavois, played for the Splash back in the day. The league would like to go back to Anaheim if the right ownership can be found.

Interesting. I kinda like this edgy, tatooed Cole. Good choice for the Fury.

I was a Sacramento Knights season ticket holder for a few seasons when they first got going. Such a fun game to go watch! I might have to go check it out this year.

I had no idea Anaheim still had a team, and I live in that city. How's that for crap marketing?

They were there for two seasons, I believe. The Anaheim Bolts. They are not playing this season, but there is hope that another team can make its way to Anaheim for next season. Problem is that you won't hear about it in the papers, because Anaheim's a "major" league town, and the PASL, while pro, is pretty minor. The CBBA is one of the biggest arenas in the US part of the league (the three Mexican teams have pretty impressive facilities, I hear)...

LA Lazers. California Surf. San Diego Soccers. Dallas sidekicks. I remember a Wichita team. All sorts of odd teams back then.

My Dad was Area K director in the 80s and we got all sorts of stuff for it. Center seats for gold medal game of Olympics was highlight... But we went down to San Diego sports arena to see Lazers vs Soccers and the place was sold out. Lazers won in OT and I was jumping up and down screaming and looking back, we may have been the ONLY LA fans there. I remember my parents trying to quiet me and I was far too excited. I do remember some dirty looks but everyone was pretty nice about it. Not like these days.... Oh yeah, I still have my California Surf pennant in my sports room.

But hey, I may drive out from Huntington Beach to see one of those games for old times sake.

The Dallas franchise is still the Sidekicks. San Diego's still the Sockers (and they claim the title lineage, 14-time indoor champions). Wichita still has a team (they were in the new MISL as the Wings, but are in the league with the Fury as the B-52's) Tacoma's Stars took this season off to restructure. We'd love to have you come out and check it out. We have three Sunday games in November (10, 17, 24) and they all start at 4 p.m. The game the 10th is the regular season opener, and it's against the Dallas Sidekicks.

First official league game was a 6-5 victory over Dallas (who had handed San Diego it's first home loss since entering the league four years ago on Saturday night). Next game is this Sunday against Sacramento. This coming off a 16-8 victory over Toros Mexico in a preseason game. Should be a lot of goals this weekend (Sacramento's given up an average of 12 per game (and they've already played three games).
