Away we go.

Did I really just read that Toronto is on the verge of signing Jermaine Defoe and Michael Bradley within a week of each other?

The legend of Tim Leiweke lives on...

Your comment is perfect. Except for the lawsuit drama, it's like they didn't even exist last season. Even the SuperClasico completely lost its lustre, which is actually sad.

Now move them to OC, the Galaxy are too far entrenched for another team to work at Stubhub Center.

Goodbye and good riddance to Vegara. What a nightmare for the league he was.

I've always advocated for Chivas to partner with CSU Fullerton to get a stadium built like AEG partnered with CSUDH. But it's untenable for a franchise to stay at the Stub and always be in the Galaxy's shadow.

BTW, as part of the buyout MLS settled the lawsuits evidently.

Interesting I didn't hear that part.

Ya gotta figure that the League knew that Vegara was liable and that he and CDUSA were eventually going to have to pay on the lawsuits. MLS probably just paid these guys so there is no outstanding liabilities which might hinder the sale.

Very nice! I hope soccer conts to grow in the USA. I'm really thinking about switching my season tickets from the Kings to the Galaxy instead. Don't get me wrong, I love my Kings and going to the games. But the cost is going up and up, and with that happening...watching games at home looks all that much better to me lol

Galaxy tickets are pretty cheap compared to the Kings...but their field is a bit far for me tho.

Been a fan for about 9 years now since the stadium opened close to home and finally got hooked up on some free suite tickets courtesy of StubHub, for being a "superstar" rewards member of all the reasons. They really look after you, free food, drinks and great view (right at the midfield line).

Game could have been better, too many missed chances (especially the Keane missed penalty, and Keane's bounce of the post) but the team looked solid and built for another championship run.

Great experience before the game drinking amongst the ACB faithful, still wonder why there is not as much cross-promotion between the Galaxy and the Kings, seems like the fans would fit the same demographic. The Galaxy have hosted a Dodgers night, so it seems odd that the Kings haven't dipped their toes into those waters..

LGK night at a Galaxy game would be tits :101smile:

LetTigerIn

There was an ACB night at a Kings game, and the ACB drove the Kings fans crazy with their singing for the most part. I loved it, both for the singing and the reaction. Haha. Next we need a Riot Squad night at the Stapler.

Are there some members mutual to the ACB and Royal Army?

There has been other team cross promotion. Cozmo was at the Kings vs Habs game recently, and Jay Flats often hosts the Galaxy intermission, for example. I agree that more would be nice.

The penalty kick encapsulated the night perfectly.

Cozmo almost crashed his bike into my car outside staples center a couple years ago (the REAL cozmo, not this weird black thing they parade around nowadays).

He was legit though and at least stopped to take a picture after seeing the galaxy license plate on my car.

Another solid outing from the Galaxy today. Game was so much more lopsided than even the 3-1 score suggests.

I would not have guessed, especially with the paucity of clean sheets for the Galaxy this season, that they lead the league defensively. Having Omar back is only going to bolster that number, as the back four are nowhere near as good without him.

The great bonus for the day was having my Ishizaki and Sarvas shirts signed!

ucsdguy1
August 4th, 2014, 04:23 PM
if Zardes can keep scoring, they have a a nice trio of attack between he and Keane that is very hard to defend. Especially when Ishizaki and Juninho and running the midfield to fed them.

That run Keane made to score from Donovan's cross was fantastic.

Looks like next week's Galaxy v Sounders match will determine the Supporter's Shield.

I'm really disappointed that Galaxy could not muster at least a point today against FC Dallas, as now the advantage goes to Sounders, and they can take the Supporter's Shield with a draw next week. Terrible.

I'm also disappointed that the tie-break rules have been changed to wins over goal differential. IMO, it's a lousy rule under soccer's points system, because having more wins also means you have double that amount in losses, so the more sensible tie-breaker is GD. Of course, this rule hurts the Galaxy in this situation, but it's not just because I'm a Galaxy fan that I think the rule is lousy; and to say that it's to fall in line with CONCACAF is hilarious.

Bottom line, though, is Galaxy need to show up for Landon's final regular season match, take all three points and the Supporter's Shield! FWIW, I'll be doing my part from the stands, which mainly exclusively consists of eating terrible food and singing (and supporting the announcer at introductions and Galaxy goals, of which I hope there are many).

yes although I did like donovan's quote that it's better to get the wake up call now than in the playoffs. I dont' mind them coming back to reality to prove they're not invincible, while still having a shot at the supporter's shield. They also had about 4 or 5 shots that easily could've gone in by Gordon or a couple other guys.

No penalty kicks, sudden death will make things more interesting. No 15 minute overtime and then switch for another 15 minutes. Time outs for players falling down holding their legs and balls that go out of bounds, time out. Referee hands the ball to the player. Best 2 out of 3 is good enough. Winner of the series by games is the winner, not goals against, goals away and goals home. Better record gets home field.

Golden goal sucks. Playing to full time is better. Away goals is a fine tiebreaker. Three games would be ridiculous. Would take a month to complete a single playoff round.

Every four days a game. Substitutions during the game in which a player can come back. 12 days to complete a round. I would guarantee more Americans would watch with these games with these rules. No one wants to see a championship game settled by penalty kicks. There is a reason the NHL does not do SO in the playoffs.

Sudden Death would have all the fans at the edge of their seats. Time does not start until the ball is in play is a great rule, the players can stall all they want but the game will be stopped until the ball is back in play. No extra time! The game would be a lot more exciting for Americans!
