We haven't seen Blofeld since 1981 (For Your Eyes Only) in the official series or 1983 (Never Say Never Again, the remake of Thunderball), probably one of the best villians of the Bond series.

We haven't seen Blofeld since 1981 (For Your Eyes Only) in the official series or 1983 (Never Say Never Again, the remake of Thunderball), probably one of the best villians of the Bond series.

There was some legal issues with the film version of Thunderball back in 60's, and that eventually led to the company that produces the James Bond films to lose the legal right to use Blofeld in the films. Even in that cameo in For Your Eyes Only the character looks like Blofeld, but they actually never refer to him as Blofeld.

Watch.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=515lZbvqQwo

Anyways, in the past there have been characters that were written to be Blofeld (like the villian in The Spy Who Loved Me), but there actually hasn't been any official Blofeld in the film series since Diamonds are Forever. Unless the production company was able to win back the rights to use Blofeld I don't think this news could be true. Also seems like Sam Mendes is taking the series away from shadowy organizations, and focusing more on lone wolf type of villians.

I would love to see a proper adaptation of Ian Fleming's book version of Octopussy. I think that story would make a great and emotional Bond film we haven't seen yet. Yeah I know people chuckle when they hear the word Octopussy, but when you find out what Octopussy really is (in the novel) it's actually really depressing.

Two, last time I heard. Hopefully they can convince him to stay on, especially since they take their sweet frickin' time between movies, which gives Craig plenty of time to make art like Cowboys & Aliens.

Or that Golden Compass film. I sat 3 hours in a theater waiting for Daniel Craig to do something badass, and right when I thought something was going to happen the movie ended. I literally threw my shoe at the screen, and I'm not even Iraqi.

Well I said I would try to make this thread interesting, so how about we start some lists to rank what people like and dislike in the 007 series.

I'll start with ranking my favorite Bond actos in order from worst to first.

6.) Pierce Brosnan - Fine actor let down by poor Bond scripts. Was also the only Bond actor to never put his own unique take on the character. It always felt like he trying to act like Sean Connery or Roger Moore, and in the end Brosnan gave off this Ken doll vibe I never really liked.

5.) George Lazenby - Techincally speaking he was the worst actor to ever play James Bond. What prevents Lazenby from holding the worst title is the fact that he was in arguably one of the best Bond movies ever made. Strong directing and a strong screenplay helped transform Lazenby's acting inexperience into on screen vulnerability. Also doesn't hurt when your on screen partner (Diana Riggs) gives one of the strongest performances we have ever seen in a Bond film.

4.) - Timothy Dalton - Technically speaking he was the most skilled actor to ever play James Bond. Dalton took it upon himself to make his Bond as accurate as possible to the character potrayed in the Ian Fleming novels. It's a shame the producers of the James Bond series at the time were not really on the same page as Dalton.

3.) Roger Moore - To be honest I can't really explain why Moore is at number 3. He's an okay actor, and the films he was in range from decent to laughably bad. I think he's ranked so high because I really can't see him playing as anything else but James Bond (I'm not a Saint fan). To his credit Moore is the Bond icon you usually think of right after Sean Connery. There's just something about him that seems off putting at first, but his clown like antics do eventually grow on you.

2.) Daniel Craig - Skyfall has totally changed my opinion on Daniel Craig as a Bond actor. If this were pre Skyfall I probably would have had him ranked a couple of numbers back, but since Skyfall I have totally fallen head over heels in love with Craig as a Bond actor. Yeah Quantum of Solace was kind of a mistep for Craig, but his performances in Casino Royale and Skyfall are probably two of the best performances we have ever seen an actor give in a James Bond movie. Craig seems to have all the best elements of every Bond actor ever while maintaining his own unique take on the character. If it weren't for the number one person this list I would have said that Craig is the greatest Bond actor of all time by a country mile.

1.) Sean Connery - Do I really need to explain this one? If you don't get why Sean Connery is the greatest Bond actor of all time, then you clearly have never seen the first 5 James Bond movies. All other actors are playing James Bond. Sean Connery on the other hand is James Bond. End of story!

Getting The Bonds Back Together - Roger Moore On Rumored Project (http://www.bleedingcool.com/2015/06/21/getting-the-bonds-back-together-roger-moore-on-rumored-project/)

Sir Roger Moore told the Sun that producers are trying to line up a film ala The Expendables, that would start previous James Bonds: Moore (89), Sean Connery (84), George Lazenby (75), Timothy Dalton (71) and Pierce Brosnan (65). Moore says that the hold up on the project is Connery who retired from actin in 2006. Moore said:

I’d be up for it. But Sean balked at the idea as I don’t think he wanted to be associated with Bond any more. But I’d need about ten stunt doubles.

James Bond Author Thinks Idris Elba is Too “Street” to Play 007
http://collider.com/james-bond-author-thinks-idris-elba-is-too-street-to-play-007/

And as for his comments on Elba, Horowitz may be insisting that they’re not racially motivated, but the terminology is not one you’d likely hear about Bruce Willis, Hugh Jackman, or Mark Wahlberg, all of whom play characters similar to those Elba plays. If it’s meant simply as another word for “rough,” well, okay then, but even that seems spurious: One would think an international killer of men and women employed loosely by the government would, at the very least, be a bit rough, even in a tailored suit and with a taste for martinis. Horowitz goes onto say that the character of Bond must be “suave,” which he assumedly doesn’t think Elba is, putting him in direct opposition to every woman I’ve ever met in my life. I’d agree that the character should be suave, and that Elba is about as suave a performer as I’ve seen in the last two decades.

Reading this only fuels my speculation that Spectre is either some kind of On Her Majesty's Secret Service remake, or reimagining. Even though OHMSS takes place in the middle of the Blofeld trilogy, that story always felt kind of like a origin story of Bond.

Daniel Craig To Continue As James Bond; On Contract For One More (http://www.bleedingcool.com/2015/10/01/daniel-craig-to-continue-as-james-bond-on-contract-for-one-more/)

Talking with The Daily Mail about the upcoming Spectre, star Daniel Craig says he is still under contract for one more film following the late fall release of the new 007 picture. And beyond that, he says, “I’m not going to make predictions.”

One thing the actor notes is the physically demanding stunt work. Even at 47, it’s getting tougher to train into Bond’s fighting shape. “It’s getting harder. But such is life,” he says. He credits his stunt team with making it a little easier on set despite injuring his knee during Spectre‘s production. “I’ve got so many good doubles.”

But he adds, “I’ll keep going as long as I’m physically able.”

Daniel Craig Would Only Play James Bond Again ?For the Money?
http://collider.com/spectre-daniel-craig-would-only-play-james-bond-again-for-money/

Asked if he could see himself returning for another Bond film Craig said,

Now? I?d rather break this glass and slash my wrists. No, not at the moment. Not at all. That?s fine. I?m over it at the moment. We?re done. All I want to do is move on

Yeesh, man. Not a good look. To be fair, he does make it pretty clear that he?s talking about right now, which makes sense. If I was in the midst of a massive round of promotion after wrapping such a mammoth-scale production, I?d probably want a break too. But there?s something to be said for speaking in a way that doesn?t make you sound ungrateful and entitled. Craig took a bit more diplomatic tone in his follow up answer,

I haven?t given it any thought. For at least a year or two, I just don?t want to think about it. I don?t know what the next step is. I?ve no idea. Not because I?m trying to be cagey. Who the **** knows? At the moment, we?ve done it. I?m not in discussion with anybody about anything. If I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money.?

?Every idea I?ve had for a Bond movie, I?ve stuck into this one. It?s gone in. The Bond bank is dry. If you?re asking me what would I do with another Bond movie? I haven?t a clue. Go into space? Let?s do it! They already did it. Let?s do it again.?

Craig also confirmed rumors that the studio wanted to move swiftly on the Specre sequel, planning to film Spectre its followup back-to-back at one point,

?Well, I was contracted to do another one. That was all set up. But at the studio there was a real keenness to get it done as soon as possible. In fact, there was a conversation at one point that went: ?Let?s film two movies back to back.? I just went: ?You?re out of your ****ing minds.? In the nicest possible way. They?re just too big.?

His thoughts on who should pick up the mantle after he?s done? Zero. ****s. Given.

Look, I don?t give a ****. Good luck to them! All I care about is that if I stop doing these things we?ve left it in a good place and people pick it up and make it better. Make it better, that?s all.

And what would be his advice to his eventual successor? ?Don?t be ****.? Not very useful advice, but definitely worth heeding.

You?ve got to step up. People do not make movies like this any more. This is really rare now. So don?t be ****?Go for it. Embrace it. Some clich?d line like that. But no, just make sure you?re great. You?ve got to push yourself as far as you can. It?s worth it, it?s James Bond.?

First of all I love the gay cowboys eating pudding reference, and second you don't need to get into extremely good physical shape to play a gay cowboy eating pudding. Daniel Craig is almost 50, I get where he is coming from with his complaint.

I have faith that Sam Mendes will deliver another winner, and if Spectre is Craig's swan song then he sure picked a hell of movie to go out on. At the moment only Lazenby can say that he went out on a great Bond film.

Having to be in shape is a slightly better excuse, but he has all the time and money to get any people he needs to help him out.

Everything I have seen of Spectre looks incredible, maybe minus that one CGI collapsing building. I swear I read the contract was for five movies, but we'll see.

Everyone's last Bond movie is the worst one they made, so there is another reason for Craig to make another.

Well I was trying to avoid hearing any sort of reviews about Spectre seeing how it's already out in Europe, but I couldn't help myself. So for those who don't want to know don't read what I post below. I won't give any spoilers because I don't know of any, but I'll give a general consensus of what most of the reviews say.

For the most part a lot of the reviews say Spectre is not quiet as good as Skyfall, but it's still a very good film. A lot of rave reviews about the opening scene in Mexico, and in general there being a lot of suspenseful moments in the movie. All in all everything sounds overwhelmingly positive, and I can't wait for November 6.

If I can sum up Spectre in a few words, it was good, but slightly disappointing at the same time. I'm not going to spoil anything, but clearly the series is wanting to go back to how things were before the Craig reboot. I think most people now have a certain expectation of how Craig's Bond should be like, so when we get a Pierce Brosnan like Bond film with Daniel Craig in it can be off putting to some. I for one wish they would have continued exploring ideas and kept the same general tone that Casino Royale and Skyfall had, but Spectre is still no where near as offensively bad as Quantum of Solace was. Spectre is clearly a fan service film full of homages, and in that sense its probably the best kind of those types of Bond films trying to replicate a Sean Connery era Bond film post Sean Connery. It's a popcorn movie, a piece of entertainment, which most non hardcore fans I think will be happy with, but to others I think we have come to expect more from a Daniel Craig Bond film than just a run of the mill, by the books blockbuster. With that being said I would probably put Spectre on par with You Only Live Twice, Thunderball, Goldeneye, For Your Eyes Only, and Bond films like that. Good, but not great. I will say Christoph Waltz performance of a certain character was very poor.

Man, Spectre is getting brutal reviews...

I think you just picked the two most brutal reviews. It's in the 60% range on rotten tomatoes, which sounds about right to me, but I will remember all these reviews come next month when the very things movie reviewers are giving Spectre grief over, they'll be praising Force Awakens for making that same exact nostalgia trip.

I liked Spectre, but did not love it. I agree with KingsFan1985, it felt like an older Bond movie, a little less grounded in reality, let's say.

My least favorite of the 4 Craig films, but I did still enjoy it.

It was a'ight.

It seems like there were more of those "Seriously?" moments in this one than the past few movies. I could name a few, but don't wanna spoil things for peeps.

I saw it Saturday and enjoyed it. Obviously it was the vehicle for Craig and Mendes to exit the series. My gut tells me that Bond 25 is going to be a complete reboot with new Bond, M, Q and Moneypenny. I am ok with that as long as they continue with someone as menacing as Craig was in Casino. He has really been a very good Bond but his desire to exit the series has been obvious and was culminated in Spectre IMHO.

Two in the head, three in the chest, and let's go with one in the femoral artery just to be sure.

I wonder if Tom Hardy/Idris Elba are 3/4 or 4/3 in his estimation.

Actually, Hiddleston would be terrific.

I am not sure of that but I wasn't sure about Craig either and he has been absolutely terrific. So who knows.

I would love Idris but came to the conclusion that he is just too old for the role to do it for more then one or two movies unfortunately. They really need to reach for someone who is not well known ala Craig when he was tabbed.

Thought he was good in that Roman soldiers behind enemy lines movie but he does seem a bit small in stature to play Bond. My main issue with Hiddleston is he feels like a step back to the Brosnan style. I like the more menacing Connery/Craig style Bond.
