well, it's one thing having a underaged DD tag along, but it sure is a touchy issue.
I believe that there is one thing called liability, which Stone Brewing might want to avoid should anything happen to the said minor off the premise, that all things would point to the company.
not that I'm defending Stone Brewing, I just hope that you can see the light in that matter.
I BELIEVE I'll have another beer!
This boycott is tough, been hours already! Will hold strong. Lagunitas to my rescue!
I suppose so, but I guess what really irritates me is how the girl handled the situation. She was rude in how she handled this, and to deny my dad from purchasing a couple of growlers was completely unnecessary. To my understanding, a legal guardian can purchase alcohol for his/herself if their child is present. This girl was just out to screw us, and from what we had noticed (not just me) she was rude to other customers as well. If my buddy's girlfriend was in line with us at the counter, I could understand them having a fit about that. But after we had both been legally sold our growlers, I would say that is a low blow. Just because somebody comes by an d says something to you, you're automatically providing for a minor. Total BS. Id hate to strike up a convo with somebody underage there that is a complete stranger, and automatically be targeted as part of his/her party. I really think this is something that needs to be worked on and managed in a more professional way.
I think there is a big difference when you have several guys in their early 20s together buying booze, when only of them has an ID - in comparison to a mother/father/legal guardian picking up alcohol while their child is nearby.
Hate to say it but I was just at Stone yesterday and went into the store. There is a sign posted above the bottled beer section that specifically states that Stone will not sell to someone with underage companions. It is a liability thing and they have a sign explaining that. Sounds like they weren't nice to you but were completely following their own rules.
BTW- went for the Winter Storm tasting yesterday from 11-3 and tasting damn near everything they had. Brilliant day and we practically had the place to ourselves.
Actually, she was my friend's DD. I rode separately with my parents who are both 49 and very of age. What made me mad is that they didn't want to hear it. I went with my parents, and only them. I only happened to run into a few people that I know and that were already there. Therefore, I should have at least been able to take home a growler of my own since everybody I came with was of legal age. But when they refuse to believe you and assume you are a liar, that is where customer service is flat out rude in my opinion and deserves a complaint.

Fair enough, and it seems as if they acted appropriately towards my friend and his girlfriend. Sucks for me though considering I did not come/ride with them down to the brewery.
Jeeze, you must have one hell of a tolerance. We made it through about half of what they had and were pretty much buzzed out. That Sawyer's Triple was amazing, wasn't it ?
I sampled in 4 ounce tasters. The Sawyers was good. Even better than last year. It is aging well. I was a bit buzzed at the end yes. I kept eating during the session and that helped. I really liked the 03 Vert and the 02 Imp Russ Stout. The only things they were out of was some old Anniv. bottles, the Oatmeal Stout and the wet-hopped 07 Vert. The Vanilla Bean Stout was very good too. I got the last bottle of the 02 Barleywine to finish up the day.
The 03 Vertical Epic aged very well. So did all of the other VE's up to 06. Absolutely amazing. I had the 07 Vertical Epic again, and still just cannot get into it. We didn't even make it to the Double Bastards, Barleywines, or Imperial Stouts. We tried to grab as many bottles of the Anniversary Ales as we could. I left home with the 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th, and 9th bottles. The Porter w/vanilla beans was good, and very sweet. Probably couldn't stomach more than 2 of those in a sitting. The Oatmeal Stout rocked, and its unfortunate that it isn't available on a regular basis. Seems like they need to include a stout in their full-time releases.
