Forgot to mention it. Got a bottle of Angels Envy for my bday. Pretty amazing stuff. About $40-42 a bottle.

Wow. What a trip. I owe you a debt of gratitude, kingsfan32. Following up from yesterday's post, Hi-Times got blanked this year (they were FURIOUS btw) so I called Total Wine (also wouldn't have known if not for you) to see if they had anything left, but assumed I was way too late yet again. To my shock they had just that morning received their allocation and had a line already. But the a--holesERRRR the fine folks there wouldn't sell over the phone and ship (I'm out of state). I quickly reached a buddy in Long Beach who happened to be off work and was incredibly awesome enough to jump in his sled and brave rush hour down to HB (taking a chance because they also wouldn't hold anything and bottles were flying out) and he managed to grab me a 20 yr. Bourbon and the 13 yr Rye - and a 2-bottle shipping container.
Freaking unreal. This is the first year in many that I didn't even try (actually too busy to remember), and it practically fell out of the sky. AND THE RYE!!!!! Kidding me? So rare. Never thought I'd get to taste it let alone procure a bottle. What an amazing turn of events. Can't get too excited until they arrive in one piece, but barring disaster my PVW dream will finally become reality thanks to you and my LB bruddah who just texted a 2day tracking number and will soon receive a Hawaiian care package well worthy of his heroic efforts.
So jealous you got the 13 rye! I ended up with the 10, 12, and 15 yr. Congrats!! Glad I could help.
The 23 was available. Just could not get myself to spend $280 on a bottle. Got my other 3 for less than that. I will put some tasting notes down soon.
So excited!! Finally was able to get a few bottles of Pappy. Cheers everyone!
I went to a bourbon tasting at one of my local watering holes, Shannons Bayshore on 2nd street in Belmont Shore. Unfortunately there wasn't anything super rare, I was hoping there would be.
We sampled:
- Bulleit infused with orange peel, clove, apple, cinnamon. It wasnt too bad
- Jim Beam, yeah, i know...
- Knob Creek
- Buffalo Trace
- Makers Mark
- Jack Daniels Single Barrel
All of which I have had before. Oh well, it wasn't a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon. With the exception of the infused Bulleit, all samples were served in the small sample sized plastic nyquil type of cups/caps.
