    Pappy Van Winkle update: for all the Pappy fans out there, the distillery recently annouced that for 2013, they will not be doing 2 releases. They typically do a Spring release and a Fall release. To try and increase the overall # of bottles available at one time, they will only do a Fall release. Sucks for those of us who have almost finished our Fall 2012 bottles but good to know that we will all have better chances now of getting a bottle or two in the Fall. If I find out any projected weeks for delivery I will be sure to let everyone know.

    My buddy at work recommended Four Roses to me so I picked up a bottle tonight after work. I like it a lot, it's easy on the nose, and it went down smooth. It didnt reach out and bite like some do, I added a half of an ice cube to it after taking a couple sips neat. As usual, the water really opened it up.

    You all owe it to yourselves to go to Total Wine and get a bottle of Big Bottom. Their straight bourbon whiskey is GOOD STUFF, Maynard. And for a bit of a twist, their Zinfandel barrel finished bourbon is a delight!!

    Has anyone tried this stuff yet? I'm not really one for straying from the original flavoring of a product, but if someone handed me one I wouldn't turn it down.

    The fall season is a big one for new bourbon releases, but it's not too often that one of those releases tastes like fall as well. Abraham Bowman Gingerbread Beer Finished Bourbon ($70) tastes like it was made for the fall season, with hints of gingerbread spice, cinnamon and clove. They used Bowman Bourbon barrels that held booze for a solid 8 years before emptying and passing them along to Hardywood Brewery, who then aged their award-winning Gingerbread Stout for 12 weeks. Finally, early in 2013 the barrels came back to Bowman and were filled with the bourbon that you will enjoy, like a crisp fall day, if you're lucky enough to score a limited edition bottle.
