I too concur with this...A whole lot of prep and fuss for such little reward.

I'll eat up the spinach artichoke dip though!

i just saw Alton Brown's "Good Eats" where he was using them

Just steamed and dipped in melted butter / margarine.

The people wo say to much work are so high. Nothing is better that a great Artichoke or better yet the work to get to the heart. :heartpump:

No doubt brother. I had artichokes for dinner last Saturday. Getting to that meaty heart is worth it, but I find the leaves just as tasty. I could eat artichokes until I puke.

Who was the first starving guy who looked at an artichoke and said - "I bet I could eat that!"

I had my first one of the season for dinner last night! I swear the first one always takes WAY longer to cook than you remember!

True. I steamed one for an hour the other day, and it was still tough. I cooked that sucker for almost 2 hours before it was soft enough to eat.
