    Default Artichokes!!

    They're in season again. Went to Food 4 Less and picked up 4 beauties.

    How do you prepare yours? I just steam mine until the leaves are tender, and then I dip them in a little olive oil/garlic/balsamic.

    My wife is from back east, and they stuff the crap out of them with whole garlic cloves and boil them in olive oil and garlic. I was repulsed for a long time, but have to say I rather like them now like that.

    I suck at cooking artichokes, they always end up watery. Any help would be appreciated

    Steam them until they are almost done (still need to be slightly firm). Baste them with melted butter & garlic, sprinkle with salt, pepper, garlic powder. Put on the BBQ for a few minutes (on each side) until the leaves are crispy on the edges.

    Very tasty.

    If you ever get to the central coast go to the Hitchin Post in Casmalia and order the artichoke appetizer. Very good.

    I'm gonna try that! I think I'll chop them in half before throwing them on the grill.

    I cut them in half before steaming them. It's just easier and I haven't seen in a difference in taste. Make sure you baste them on the leaf side and the inside with the garlic butter and seasoning. I usually start them leaf side down on the BBQ.......
