Use 2 slices of bacon for each dog as it holds together nicer when they grill. Also, I recommend you blend 3/4 ketchup and 1/4 Tapatio if you're into putting that on your dog.
Greatest food there is.
Ya man, these are delicious. As everyone else said, just the dog and the bacon will do. I just have to mess with everything a little and some of the things I tried are in the thread I had a while back which I think got linked in here.
Either way, you're in for some good eats. One suggestion though regardless of how you do it is, pre soak some toothpicks in water for a while and use those to hold the ends of your bacon on the dog when you grill them, they will hold together better and give it a tighter wrap.
Try Nathan's Hot Dogs if you can get them. They are the best hot dogs I have ever had.
Nathan's Famous - Welcome to Nathan's
The only difference with my bacon-wrapped hot dogs is I put cheese (whatever your favorite is, American and cheddar are so good) inside the dog. Cut a thin line down the side of the dog, up to full length, and insert the cheese in there before you put the bacon around it.
No need to remove any of the hot dog just stuff the cheese into the cut you have made.
It is so good.
DING!
These have been added to the 4th of july feast menu!
Thank for the bump!
Nathans FTW ...... you do pay for the excellence though![]()
We are the Samurai, the warrior elite who protect and serve. Armed and armored from head to toe, masters of our personal weapons and bound by Honor, Duty, Loyalty, and Honesty. We walk the long path into the places society would prefer forgotten, and chase those demons that most would run from screaming in fear. We are the Samurai.
That's why I get them at discount warehouses. $7.99 for a package of 24 hot dogs seems like a good price for 24 hot dogs. I am glad they are at least in some stores in CA now, I remember when they were East Coast only.
They are definitely worth every penny.
I only hope you enjoy them as much as we do. Even some of my friends who don't like hot dogs try a Nathan's and that's the only hot dog they will buy/eat. We used to get Hebrew National, but once they tried one of my Nathan's Hot Dogs fresh off the grill, it was love at first bite.
There is NOTHING like a Nathan's!
