Thread: Black n whatever (a list of layered beer drinks)

A few of us were discussing Half and Halfs, Black N Tans....those drinks where you layer Guinness on top of Bass, Harp, Smithwicks, Blue Moon etc in the shoutbox yesterday.

This is a great list I came across that has a TON of different ideas and mixtures people have tried...and **** all they each have their own name.

mmmmmmmmm snake bite...guinness and pear cider. Although according to this list it's called a Smoothie? Odd.

Black and Tan is a drink made from a blend of pale ale (ie. Bass) and a dark beer such as a stout or porter. Sometimes a pale lager(ie. Harp) is used instead of ale; this is usually called a half and half.

Contrary to popular belief, Black and Tan is not a drink commonly consumed in Ireland.

*In the United States, Half and Half consists of Harp Lager topped with Guinness.

Priest Collar: A priest collar is made in the same way as a black and tan except using a cider instead of a pale ale or pale lager.

Black and Blue: Guinness layered over Blue Moon (beer) in place of pale ale or pale lager.

Black Velvet: Stout and Champagne

Snakebite: Lager and Cider

Shandy: Lager and Sprite, 7, or ginger ale

Shandy Bass: Bass and above sodas
