Since my grills propane tank went empty and ive been too lazy to get a new one i havnt had a home cooked steak in a while. Ive heard they come out great from cast iron skillets so ive been thinking about getting one. Any recomendations on brands?

Griswold brand cast iron if you can find them. Wagners are ok though and more availible.
YARD SALE you need to find an old skillet. The older the better.
When you seer the steak in the skillet, put something heavy on top of the steak like another pan filled with water or a brick.
They are also great for maintaining your iron level. I always recommend to people that are anemic or don't quite meet the iron level criteria to donate blood to cook with them and stop drinking tea.
Don't use water to clean it, just dry scrub with steel wool to get off large residue and wipe off well. ;)
The one I have I got from my mom when I moved out of the house at 18, she had it for many years prior to that.
The family has only used it for deep frying, nothing else.
Have a dutch oven and a skillet by Lodge that were picked up at a restaurant supply for reasonable several years back. They're good quality and heavy and have been a great investment, but we've done our part too.
You can use water...just dont use soap. Steel Wool is going to scratch off the carbon base that makes a cast iron skilliet better with time.
