Thread: Chronic Tacos: Whats the dealiYO?

Saw the Wee Man, from jackass fame, opened one of these joints down in Redondo.

Has anyone been there or to any of their other locations?

Basically, I want to know how it rates against Chipotle which is a similar type place I eat here in Colorado.

Or just tell me how it stacks up as Mexican fare in general.

If it is worth my time, I'll hit it up next time I am in the South Bay.

My personal opinion, Chronic Tacos is not worth the price. Portions are small, not very tasty and expensive. Chipotle is more main stream Mexican fare so not quite the comparison. Nver been to the other place.

So would you say Chipotle is better than Chronic or are they really too different to compare?

I only ask because it seems to be set up the same as Chipotle, go through the line, build your food kind of joint.

Id say it's a place you gotta try once or twice for yourself. I haven't made it there yet, but my husband used to love that place. At least once a week his office would make a run to Chronic Tacos. I know other people who wouldnt set foot in the place if they were paid.

Seems like a 'love it' or 'hate it' joint.

Anyone who says the portions are small must have run into the wrong worker, my portions have been huge. The burritos take two people to carry them to the table.

I've had the Chronic Tacos once, but it was at a Chronic Cantina and they were made for you back in the kitchen. They were pretty much awful. The meat and the other ingredients were very bland. Reminded me of non-authentic Mexican joints where they give you Pace Picante sauce with your chips.

Taste wise I would say Chipotle is better. But there is more of a variety of food at Chronic. Granted, I only went there once but.... it only takes me one time to put my hand in the fire to figure out it's hot......

Here is a thread about Chronic Tacos...it is an older thread, but I think alot of the quality or lack thereof is more about the location you choose to eat at. I recommend giving it a shot...the portions at the one near me were pretty large and good value. I hope you have a good experience, like I did.
