In the 70's and early 80's my family and I would eat Chris N Pitt's at least once every two weeks, if not more. Mmmm, spare ribs, and not to mention the really big bacon cheeseburger. Oh man, now I'm hungry. I also rember as a kid buying the rolled up horoscopes from the little vending machine at the front. Anyway, memories. Before I drove, I used to ride there on my bike and pick up dinner for the family.

Also, when older, I used to go to the Northwoods Inn in Rosemead off the 210 freeway. The steaks were ok, but as everyone said, you went for the atmosphere, peanuts on the floor, cheesy pictures and bread, salads, and all.

OK, it's almost 11, but gotta eat lunch now.

The boat is still under construction, they moved it to the far southeast corner of the parking lot, over near the firestation. They somehow mananged to cram a Kohl's into the parking lot where the boat used to be. I've got so many good memories of the Clearman's Village (the old shops back behind the restaurants.) After old man Clearman died a few years back, they decided demo the galley and rebuild it. My whole family is figuring it will never be the same. At least the North Woods is pretty much the same.

IMO I think the Steak n' Stein is a little better (Pico Rivera) It's a lot quieter, that's for sure. Anyone remember the Golden ****? That was what the "Steak n Stein" in Rosemead was called. Good times.

Edwards is still around, still cooking up great steaks and fat cocktails. That's one of my standard places to eat at before Kings games.

remember it? hell, that's been my nickname since '89.

the thing about Steak n' Stein is that it is a little more expensive than Northwoods... probably why it's also a little more quiet.

when you start to enter into a new price bracket, i think you're better off probably going to a place like Houston's for a steak.

    thank you!

my family would go there once or twice a month, on top of going to Casa Calderon in San Gabriel. I remember ordering Shirley Temples when I was a kid while we waited for the table.

many years later, having moved out of the area, I still wonder if Edwards still has the magic touch. now that you say so, NS, I shall hit the place sometime soon.

I agree The Boat may not be the same without the complete exact rebuild of the galley.
I BELIEVE I'll have another beer!

    Clearman's Cheese Spread.

Wanted to bump this thread since I bought this on Saturday. Outstanding spread, which I highly recommend.

Now, if Sticky can post the cabbage salad recipe, we'll have the best parts of the North Woods Inn right here.

Is it possible to *bump* a *bump*?

    Is this a double bump?

    I must know!
