COPPER RIVER Salmon
OK, Henry said he found the first taste of Copper River Salmon at Albertson's at $20 a pound I think. Usually it comes in expensive and then goes down a week or two later but you never know since this is such a bad year for U.S. salmon.
Anyways, keep your eye out for it if you want to sample some of the best-tasting fish you can throw on the grill.
The color is incredible.
No dyes here!
They just started advertising it here locally in the Seattle area. Fred Meyers has it for $12.99 a lb. Guess that is what we get for being closer to the source. I am thinking about buying some and bbqing it today. I pulled my last piece of frozen fish (halibut) out of the freezer from my 2006 Alaska trip and was going to cook it today but the lure of Copper River salmon is high.
The ads announcing it's arrival are up at various markets around here, but so far no fish. I'm making my rounds of daily phone calls to see where it lands first, and like Mike said it appears to be starting at around 20 per pound. Still well worth it, but hope it comes down a bit.
Man, I can taste it already.....
At Bristol Farms they had it for $46 per pound. Yes, that is not a mis-type. $46 per pound. Litz wanted some, and she bought some. We don't have it at Kings Fish House just yet. It should be in by the middle of June.
I got some at Ralph's. It was amazing! I put Hipsta's secret Salmon Magic on it. Best fish EVER!!!
I took a few photos. ;)
[Hot shoe flash bounced off the kitchen cupboard.]
Went by Fred Meyer's today and it is $12.99 a lb. for a whole fish. I will probably get some this week so I will let everyone know.
Glad to hear you had a good piece double-R! I gotta get me some of hip's rub!
Woohooo!!! It's that time of year again!

for some reason, I'd rather have the steak than the fillet.
I think I'm just tired of eating the fillet. plus, the steak is thicker, right?
