Double double, fries, and a drink for $5? You must be ordering off the 2001 menu? I may be new around here, but I've noticed you seem to be very fixated on price. Now I understand that the economy being what it is, that value is very important. My point is that price does not dictate the way something tastes. I'll give you an example - let's say you go to Ruth's Chris and get a ribeye, and for argument's sake let's say it runs you $40 plus any ala carte sides you may or may not purchase. Now would that exact same meal taste any better if it was 25% or %50% cheaper?
Me being angry has nothing to do with anything, I was simply asking a legitimate question. Defensive much?
Jeez, calm down people. Seems to me how much one paid for what they ate in a restaurant is a perfectly reasonable if not totally expected thing to include in a review of the place.
Pardon my getting back on subject here boys, but I wanna share my favorite custom combo from our local The Counter knock-off. I keep going back to this one:
OTTO'S SMOKY, SPICY BARBECUE BURGER
Protein: Turkey burger
Cheese: Cheddar (or pepperjack)
Sauce: Smoked Hickory BBQ sauce
Toppings: Tomato slices; smoked bacon; dill pickle; crispy onions (or jalapenos)
Some of these might be "premium" at The Counter, but the BBQ theme works great with a Turkey burger. It usually needs all the help it can get. Try this if you don't already have a similar combo. It ****ing DESTROYS.
Ok...6 bucks. You caught me.
LOL....thanks for being the first guy to try and start a flame war in the food forum. I get your point about cost/value; my point is for the price the Counter does not match up to In N Out. Is it a great burger? Yes...but by the time you get a burger, drink, fries you are easily looking over 15 bucks. For 15 bucks-it better be the best burger on the planet. Im not saying it sucks...it was great but nothing I would write home about or miss if the shop closed up tomorrow.
And Im not defensive at all...eat what makes you happy. Live, Love, Laugh, Eat, its a beautiful world out there filled with all sorts of wonderful things. Go Explore and find your inner beauty. I give you my blessing and a big sloppy wet kiss on your way out. If you find something you want to share-In all ears and welcome your findings.
BTW Otto-I love a good BBQ Burger! One of these days my friend we have to meet up for a meal.

Hip, I'm with you 100%. We obviously grade on a curve when it comes to price. Our expectations and perception change when we start forking over big jack, and perception is reality. In-N-Out is not the world's best burger by any stretch, but for that price and the freshness of the ingredients it's awfully hard to beat. Now if a double-double was 11 bucks, it would NOT taste as good to us cuz we'd be bent that that's all we got for 11 bucks. Not too hard to understand this process.
Not flaming here jeangerard, but I think you might be pretty young. Around 18 or 19, maybe?
I want a burger now. Damn ALL of you.
