Talk of donuts makes me miss the old Helms Bakery truck, and the smell of the dounts as they pulled out the drawer filled with all the baked goods. Probably before most of you were even on the planet earth, but hose were some fine donuts!

I remember the Helms truck! Actually I don't remember anything about them except for the fact the driver would always let me honk his horn while he parked in front of our house. The horn was like a parking brake that you pulled back. I probably drove our neighbors crazy.
Not surprisingly, Tim Horton's is now doing team style doughnuts when the Canucks, Oilers, Flames, etc have a game day. Flames' longjohn has red/yellow sprinkles on white frosting and their logo.
For the longest time I thought Tin Horton's was an auto parts store or something. Now I hear that their donuts taste like they came from an auto parts store, so I guess I wasn't too far off.
I can't wait until I eventually go to Portland. I've been wanting to try that Vodoo Doughnut place ever since I saw them on the Food Network. OMFG, their stuff looks amazing!
I thought that Tin Horton was a Reverend with Heat! ;)
So a few things in a great thread.
Like Unholy I luvs me some apple fritter.
Like Doc I luvs me some old fashioned glazed.
Like Dougie VooDoo is the bomb. Whenever we pass through Portland we stop and buy a dozen. They really are unique and I did buy this shirt last time I was there

If you ever get to Seattle you must stop at Top Pot Donuts. They have a great selection.

Their blueberry glazed is outstanding. They are the coffee and donut sponsor of the Seahawks at the "CLink" (Century Link Field formerly known as QWest Field).
Recommend any and all.
i went again on monday. i asked the dude (who spoke english well, better than the chick last time) if they had plain donuts with nutella on them and he just pointed to the strawberry filled ones and said that was all they had. :(
we got maple bacon ones again. my husband really likes those and that's why we went. i got my chocolate covered french cruller again and this time it was fresh and fluffy. yippee.
i had donuts 3 days in a row over the weekend though--bday party on saturday, while shopping on sunday and then my husband's breakfast request on his day off--so i am doneso with donuts for a while. i remember i used to eat them once a week at work because they'd get a giant box every friday and omg, that was the death of me. that took a lot of work and fasting to shed. lol.
Today is a day that I need a donut badly. I guess I'll have to go and get some.
My friend, Mr. Maple Bar, thank you for being there for me.
Yes but his wife, Mrs. Maple Bacon Bar, is looking awfully sexy!
