I wanted pancakes and now I want donuts too...wait...Maple Pancakes! :D

Our local DD makes a donut that I love. A vanilla cream-filled donut topped with chocolate frosting. It has a name only people in this area would recognize, so I don't know if it was a local creation, or if they sell it in all their shops under different names.

I've seen a similar donut sold at several shops. It's usually called a Boston Cream. Link

Boston Cream are heaven on Earth and contain the two essential food groups: Chocolate & Vanilla. :D

Those eclairs from 7/11 that I was talking about are pretty much wide Boston Creams. :D

Just got an invite from a friend to come up and visit him next weekend, I would be flying into Portland. I'm sensing a VooDoo run!

Oh Doug you have to go. The original is down in the downtown area and last time we were there (last summer) it was being rebuilt so I am not sure it will be open. The other isn't far from the original and is an old fast food restaurant probably 5 miles away on the other side of the 5 freeway. You will so love it! Great donuts and just a great, original place to visit.

I went the last time I was up that way about 2 years ago, so I won't miss it if I get the chance.

Ahhhhh donuts.....I don't have a favorite I like them all.....as for my favorite place ..... when coming back from OC Jail or OC J Hall I will stop by the KK at the "Formerly Known as The Block" now the "Outlets of Orange" (When did that happen).....if I'm out west Rainbow Donuts Beach/Lincoln or Grannys Donuts Brookhurst/Lincoln.......but for the greatest donuts in Anaslime.....Rose Donuts in the strip mall Rio Vista/Lincoln.

Drive by there on any Wed morning at 2:15 AM and you will see Anaslime's finest enjoying "Fritter Friday". Carlos is a donut artisan. When we get there at 2:15 ish he is still dipping the donuts into the glaze goo and then serves them to us piping hot. So fresh that the glaze drips and sticks to the wax paper it's served on. One donut, a bunch of donut holes and a cup of joe and I am good. Come 2:40 AM I am enroute back to the barn to begin my weekend.

There is also M&M Donuts on Katella east of Euclid. Never been there because the line is too long. I hear the blueberry donuts are the bomb but unless the line goes away I will never know. It's in a shady area so going off duty is out of the question.
