Drive by there on any Wed morning at 2:15 AM and you will see Anaslime's finest enjoying "Fritter Friday". Carlos is a donut artisan. When we get there at 2:15 ish he is still dipping the donuts into the glaze goo and then serves them to us piping hot. So fresh that the glaze drips and sticks to the wax paper it's served on. One donut, a bunch of donut holes and a cup of joe and I am good. Come 2:40 AM I am enroute back to the barn to begin my weekend.

There is also M&M Donuts on Katella east of Euclid. Never been there because the line is too long. I hear the blueberry donuts are the bomb but unless the line goes away I will never know. It's in a shady area so going off duty is out of the question.

    mmmmmmm.......donuts......
Hey kids, this has to the best post in this thread! My wife is from Anaheim and I think I remember Rose's. Local, small shops really are the best. Unfortunately where I live we just don't have that many donut shops. You want teryiaki bowl places there is one in every strip mall!

Not a huge fan of donuts, but I had some pretty good beignets (plain and nutella filled) at Bottega Louie.

It's different from a Boston Cream, Doug, although I like them too. Boston Cream has custard (or Bavarian cream) inside. This has the Vanilla creme inside and chocolate icing on top. I may just need to go to Dunkin and get a few so I could take a picture to share with all of you.

Haha, awesome. A trip to get donuts can now be referred to as an educational and research endeavor.

The recession is just an excuse. It's actually his subtle way of telling you you're a fatass.

Hit up VooDoo last night. Had the Bacon Maple followed by the Memphis Mafia this morning. Should satisfy my donut urge for quite some time.

Not to revive an old thread, but I'm back on the donut bandwagon.
I'm having a friendly taste challenge with a coworker right now between maple bars and apple fritters.

I claim that an apple fritter is nothing more than a glob of fried donut parts with apple and cinnamon(sp?). It looks more like a big slab of rhino poo than a donut. It's basically the scrapple of donuts. In my opinion, its not even a donut.

then we have... the maple bar...

    mmm

    mmm

    mmm

The maple bar is in my opinon a far superior donut to most other donuts and it absolutely demolishes the apple fritter. It doesn't crumble, its doesn't hurt your teeth to bite through (unlike the hardend pile of rhino poo that is the apple fritter), amazingly tasty and just all around puts a smile on my face.

    so, how bout you kiddies?

    Am I right?

    or

    am I right

I fully approve of this bump. (what else we got going?)

And yes, maple bars are (STILL!!) the bomb! Oh, I try others once in a while, but the mb just flat out rules the donut kingdom.
