Thread: Easy Indian Tandoori BBQ Chicken

Inspired by the thread where someone asked for a good BBQ chicken marinade I decided to expand my horizons and try some Indian style Tandoori Chicken.

It's really simple you just get some of this Sharwood's Tandoori Spice

Mix it according to the label, with plain yogurt, corn oil, lemon juice and white wine vinegar. That's it!

It recommends chicken quarters but since I got a whole chicken for $3.50 at Ralph's I did the whole thing (except the wings since I couldn't skin them). Oh yeah, you have to skin the chicken and then cut some gashes in it to absorb the marinade. (This works great!)

After letting it marinade in the fridge overnight, throw it on the grill for about 10-14 min a side till the inside temp of the chicken is 180 degrees and you got some of the MOISTEST and good-tasting exotic chicken you'll ever eat. PLUS since you skinned it you are saving a lot of calories.

The amazing thing was my home made chicken tasted better than the Tandoori chicken I've had in restaurants!





Here it is on my grill. It turns the chicken a neat brick red color. See the difference in the non-treated wings?




It BBQ's well with nice crunchy bits and really absorbs the yogurt well to be extra tender. AMAZING!

that looks really tasty where did you find that spice at? Traders, regular market or a little ethnic store?

I found it in the cupboard. I asked the wife where she bought it and she can't remember so my guess would be Trader Joe's since that's her favorite spot.
