    Default El Indio, San Diego

I saw this place on Diners, Dives & Drive-Ins and it looked really good. Last week, the wife & I played hooky and went to SD for lunch.

I have to say the food is no better than Acapulco's. I was extremely disappointed with the portions and the quality.

My wife had the taquitos. They were ok, but on TV they looked awesome because they put all kinds of cheese, guac, & sour cream on top. She got a small scoop and very little cheese.

I got the fajitas and the meet was horrible. No flavor whatsoever. The chile was good. If it wasn't for the chile, it would have not had any flavor.

If you're in SD and close to it, go give it a try. Otherwise don't waste your time or money going down to SD specifically for El Indio. Be aware, it is a tourist trap.

As we were leaving, I told my wife we should have eaten at the British Pub across the street instead. She agreed.

How sad, I saw it on DD & D and wanted to drive the 30 miles down there. I'll just stick to Los Olas and Anita's here.

There is a Gilberto El Indio (don't know if it is related) in Santa Monica that is really good. Also has good Margaritas too. Cash only, I think it is on Pico close to 14th.

Gilbert's El Indio is on Pico near 25th St. You might be getting it confused with Tacos Por Favor on 14th and Olympic. Both are pretty decent.
