one more cronut pic. i haven't had one since september, but this one's cinnamon from the donuttery. so far, the best.
and then i went to the big island of hawaii for a week and just got back last weekend:
merriman's - waimea, HI
bacon and the beast (ardberg 10 single malt with a slice of house cured and kona coffee bbq glazed bacon over the rim). i did not use the ice water.
kona brewing co. - kailua-kona, HI
kohala pizza (garlic infused olive oil base, mozzarella, gorgonzola, roasted red peppers, fresh spinach, fresh garlic, parmesan sausage, macadamia nuts). duke's blonde ale. castaway IPA.
tex drive in - honokaa, HI
bavarian cream malasada
ocean sushi - hilo, HI
i can't remember what these are called, but one roll has tempura fish + crab + avocado, another has ahi with macadamia nuts on the outside and the other has salmon cooked in a sweet broth and furikake on the outside.
kaaloa's super j's - captain cook, HI
kalua pork and cabbage, lomi lomi salmon, macaroni salad, scoop of rice
pork lau lau
the coffee shack - captain cook, HI
coconut cream pie, macadamia nut pie, french toast made with luau bread
keei cafe - kealakekua, HI
fresh caught spearhead on a bed of green papaya salad dressed with a peanut miso sauce
fresh caught ahi seared and served with thai curry sauce
bread pudding (punaluu sweet bread, banana, pineapple) and lilikoi cheesecake with honu chocolate crust and chocolate ganache frosting.

And now I'm insanely hungry.
Not sure about macadamia nuts on pizza.

it's actually pretty good. the nuts and the pizza. probably wouldn't have been so good with tomato sauce but this didn't have any. i think it went well with the savory flavors of the parm, sausage and garlic.
