I went to school at UCSB and lived off 3AM Freebirds Monster burritos for a few years.
I'm a bit skeptical they can duplicate the original, but I'm going to reserve judgement until I check out the new locations.

I hope it's as good as the original, would be nice to get a Freebirds fix without having to pass through SB

I ate at an FB location in Austin, Texas. Worst damn burrito I've ever had. Made Taco Bell taste like gourmet food.
The problems:
1) Tortilla - cold
2) Cheese - cold and not melted. YUK!!
3) Bland, flavorless and barely lukewarm ingredients - chicken and beans. I had to dump a TON of hot sauce on it just so it would taste like SOMETHING. However, it couldn't solve the low temperature of the burrito.
Overall, just a bad, bad product. But, that's been my experience with Chipotle as well (and any place with "warming tray" style service), is that the food just isn't kept hot enough, it's often well below what I would think would be an acceptable temperature. (by the health department). For this reason, I usually avoid these places and FB, dissapointingly, is now included.
FB has a cool concept and their restos are kinda cool, but their food hugely SUCKS IMHO.
