Default FRESH GARLIC is your FRIEND

I swear, add a little fresh smashed garlic to anything and it tastes better. Next to (sea) salt and (fresh ground) pepper, fresh garlic is a must add to everything.

Let's look at the perfect steak.

Add salt and pepper and it tastes good. Add salt and pepper and then mince up a couple cloves of fresh garlic then smash it with the side of a wide blade knive or spoon and then smear it on both sides and you've got WOW!!! Don't forget a little olive oil on both sides so it won't stick to the grill

I looove garlic, but I hate how peeling it and mincing it makes my hands smell like garlic for DAYS afterwards. No amount of lemon juice seems to free my hands of that.

    For that reason, I prefer:

It's not dried garlic. It's either packed in its own juices or in olive oil (depending upon where you find it). 1/2 teaspoon equals one clove.

    Pungent!

I used to live next to this:

The Stinking Rose - A Garlic Restaurant Located in San Francisco & Beverly Hills

Haven't been there in years but just thinking about it is making my mouth water. Fair warning, however: garlic will be seeping out of your pores for days afterwards

Stinking Rose is a place everyone must visit once. I had some garlic infused smoke cheese and toast points one time that will forever be a sense memory of pure bliss.

Im in on the garlic bandwagon as well having used both the product FBJ posted but now just stick with the fresh stuff.

Here is a little secret I would have never known if not for having a japanese wife, they have these very small graters they use for Taro and Ginger. She uses it to do a couple of garlic cloves and it really brings out the flavor...I think it may be because the its such a fine grade that it keeps in a lot of the oil.....almost makes a paste.

Here is the closest pic I could find and while its not exactly like the one the wife has it gives you the idea.

I haven't been to the Stinking Rose, but I have been to Garlic Jo's in Newport. Their garlic bread is a few slices of baguette, basically with sauteed minced garlic poured over it. They serve steaks on these hot stone-plate-type things so you can cook the steak to whatever done-ness you like. They squeeze an entire head of oven roasted garlic into the mashed potatoes table-side and mush it all up to heavenly goodness.

    My mouth is watering now.
