As a relatively new amateur mixologist, I've been experimenting with a lot of rum-based tropicla cocktails for the last year or so. I've got the books and online recipes, but I'm looking for practical stuff that YOU have made, or tried.

For example, I made this drink tonight, and my god it was well worth it:

"The Best Year'"

2-1/4 oz Grey Goose vodka
3/4 blue curacao
3/4 Licor 43
3/4 Rose's Lime Juice (just about the only time that this crap tastes better than fresh squeezed)
3 oz unsweetened pineapple juice
1 cup crushed ice

Blend at high speed for no more that 5 seconds, so the ice acts as a congealing agent and not as a slushy mess.

It's simple and deceptively strong, with the neutral vodka flavored with hints of orange from the curacao, and predominantly vanilla from the Licor 43.
