    Default The Grilling Thread

I'm trying to advance from burgers and dogs to some more exotic ideas on the grill. Veggies, fish and that sort of thing. I was thinking of cooking up some veggies and salmon for a nice weekend dinner for me and wifey. Any tips? Good resources on the net?

You'll get some good responses here.

And speaking of Salmon, anyone know if Copper River is available yet?

CRS should be available after Memorial Day.

I'd give you grilling tips here, but I learned a lot from Hipcheck, RinkRat, grilling sites online (google them) and, most importantly, my grilling instincts. how we grill also depends on what we use. charcoal? wood? gas?

bottom line, stock up well on olive oil for the veggies.

I just bought a smoker box and ceramic briquetts(sp) for my gas grill. I'm gonna go nuts on Wednesday.
Dead animal flesh and veggie skewers over hot coals with a beer or three. Good times.

It might sound blasphemous, but since i'm not a huge fish person, i've found that Trader Joe's has some marinated frozen fish that grill up really nice. Specifically i like the Mahi Mahi.

Salmon and veggies on the BBQ is one of the few things I can be proud of! I normally make a foil boat, and get both sides of the salmon wet with some olive oil. Load up each side with Cajun, Mrs. Dash's Spicy seasoning, garlic salt, and some Trader Joe's Chili Oil! It will cook pretty fast in the foil boat, so make sure to turn the slab of salmon frequently until your desired temperature is reached. You can also use the same ingredients and method above with shrimp. Killer stuff!

I've got one of them veggie baskets for the BBQ and its worth it. Make sure to use olive oil so the veggies don't stick, and use whatever seasonings you like for your veggies!

Az - Would you still use a foil boat with a salmon steak, too? (I'm of course assuming you meant fillets above.)
