For the staples that I usually get at a supermarket, the Ralphs by my work is usually the best option, because Vons either doesn't carry some of the stuff I get, or never has it on sale while Ralphs does most of the time.

Weekly fruits & veggies: the Farmer's Market in North LB. I like supporting the local growers and the food tastes great. They routinely have stuff the grocery stores don't have. Plus it's cheaper.

Other weekly groceries: Trader Joe's--it's the closest and you can't beat the price to quality ratio.

    Booze: BevMo.

    Bulk items and sundries: CostCo.

There are also two Ralphs nearby, so if I need something that Trader Joe's doesn't have (like Cardamom for a dessert the wife was making on Sunday), I'll go there.

Every time I see/hear Stephanie Edwards I remember Alpha Beta. There was one right by my house in Cerritos when I was younger, right next to a Pioneer chicken.

The online grocery shopping thing...is odd, to me. Maybe for other items, fine, but produce? I could never trust something like that for my produce. I'm picky.

At the intersection of Artesia & Carmenita, correct?

I used to shop there when visiting my ex-girlfriends parents almost every sunday. Probably saw you there when you were a kid...of course you were the same height, I'm sure. Used to get ice cream at the Thrifty on the opposite corner too.

haha. my alpha beta memory is of my mom buying me a cabbage patch doll from their parking lot sale.

agree with the online grocery shopping thing. i couldn't have someone else pick my produce OR meat for me.

oh ya & once in a blue moon i'll go to bristol farms for foie gras or french ham. i used to shop at gelson's, but they stopped carrying my favorite water brand (vittel) and the closest one is all the way in irvine.

Oh, and for whomever said Lucky, I think they're bringing the name back in some locations.

Albertsons, because its within walking distance. But I try to go to Whole Foods or Sprouts as much as I can.
