I mostly shop at Winco because it's cheap and it's the only store in the area open past 1 AM when I get out of work. And when I was growing up there was an Alpha Beta in my neighborhood. That reminds me of some jokes we used to tell as kids - Alpha Beta came out with a store credit card put out my Master Card. It was called Master Beta. And Mr. Albertson divorced Mrs. Albertson because he caught her eating Ralph's meat. We had no idea what that really meant.
I like Albertsons because I like to pay higher prices.
Henrys for my produce and meats.
Winco for my paper items, bathroom items, and pantry items.
Costco for anything bulk
Everything else at either Albertsons/Staters.
And thats how you get ants!
Gelson's -- it's close and no lines. More importantly, I refuse to shop at a fricken grocery store that I have to "join".
I have a Pavilions, Ralphs & Albertsons within 1-mile of my house. I check out the Tuesday newspaper inserts to see which of the 3 stores has my favorite items on sale. Sometimes I go to 1, sometimes all 3.
I used to go to Albertson's, but I got sick of the parking since it's right next to Costco. The Culver City Albertson's is ghetto and it's impossible to find anything. Now I go to Ralph's. Trader Joe's for meat, so I only have to go to the Pico-Robertson area once a year. TopValu is great if I'm going to feed a lot of people, or just need a lot of produce in general.
When I go back to the High Desert to visit my folks I usually stock up on what I can at Winco. I can't buy liquor at Stater Bros since everyone knows me even though I don't recognize anyone. I'm 24, dammit! So I go to Food4Less before it gets dark. Otherwise I have to drink whatever random beer my dad has lying around.
7-11 and AM/PM do the trick for me. Hot Dogs are always fresh and the Soda is in season.
