Hatter's Humidor - ***The Official CIGAR Thread***

Nice humis guys. I'm not crazy about pyramid shaped humis because of the functionality and storage limitations but they do look great on top of the table.

Mixed samplings above, some nubbed some not. Mostly some sticks I wanted to try, some in the rotation and some to spare the premium smokes in the humi when in company of those who have no idea what cigar they are smoking.

A friend of the family gave me these. All I know about cigars I learned from this thread ( so I know very little ) and I've never smoked before. Are these any good and what should I expect ?

The El Ray Del Mundo is an excellent cigar, full bodied with somewhat earthy tones, if I remember right. It's been a year or two since I had one, but have friends who will buy nothing else. The other one is nothing special and is better known for their flavored cigars.

Here's some of the latest additions: Illusione, Tatuaje Havana VI and some Don Pepin Garcia Black Label.

That friend must like you a lot since he gave you this very nice cigar! Even if you don't like this one, smoke it until it's burning your fingertips. To do any less with a cigar like this would be an extreme faux pax.

I'm about to spread some heresy here, but I had a Tat Havana VI this weekend and was pretty unimpressed with it. This was the second Tat I've had and the first one was a bit better (but not by much). My experience with both have been that they start off like a bull with tons of spice but after the first half-inch tame down considerably to the point where I feel bored. I know, this is sacrelige to some, but I just don't get it. I wonder if I have them too wet, as I've heard that they are best at around 65% RH and below. Then again, I had a Pepin Blue Label from the same humidor that was fine and made me want to buy more.

I tried the Noble (5" x 50) robusto size and I don't disagree much with you. I found this cigar lacking complexity and bit one dimensional. I enjoyed the Don Pepin Garcia Black Label much more but the jury is still out on the rest of the Havana VI line up. That's what samplers are for.

Have you tried the brown labels/cazadores? I hear the Noellas are very nice.

I think that was the first one I tried. It had a brown label and a second band on it that said Reserva if I remember correctly. It was larger than I typically go for, I'd guess around a 6 1/2x 52. I wrote down a little review for it which I've started doing for all cigars I try. Like I said, I remember it starting off like a power house but then losing all it's steam. One dimensional, as you said. However, like I said I tried a Pepin blue label a couple weeks ago and that one was very nice.
