I like the Sam Adams Octoberfest beer.
I was scared when I had my first Winter Ale the other night, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Truthfully, this year's Summer Ale was the first Sam Adams I actually gave away to a tastebud challenged friend.
You know, I used to enjoy Sam Adams a lot, usually ordered it if it was available. Over the past 2-3 years, I've been ordering it less (almost never), but never consciously thought about why.
I can't stand Sam Adams. The only thing I have tried from them in the last 10 years that was passable was the Black Ale. I haven't even bothered to try any of their newer designer beers.
Gordon Biersch was ok when it was new and not yet so "Chain Beer". I recall them starting in NoCal. Now, I wouldn't go there due to so many other great choices around. Many of the GBs have closed here in SoCal.
I love Sam Adams Black, their Winter Lager, October Fest, Honey Porter, Cherry Wheat and a few others that I cannot recall. Got my free Sam Adams T-shirt in the mail on Saturday.
Became a fan back in college in the mid-90's during the craft brewing explosion. Don't drink it as much I used to, but still like the original, but the black lager is the best.
Gordon Biersch is okay. Would go to the Old Town Pas location all the time back in the day.
Not a fan of GB, but I used to like SA... if you havent already, try Lienkugels berry or wheat brews, they are fantastic. Used to be you couldnt find em on the west coast, but Fry's is now carrying em.
