Thread: I found out why Sam Adams beers went to ****

They started outsourcing their brewing a few years ago.

I have never been the biggest Sam Adams fan, the Boston Lager was ok, I did used to really like their Summer Ale and their black lager is still my favorite beer by them. But it does explain somethings. I do know other posters here (I think AZ and Psychopuck) also noticed how crappy the Summer beer especially has been the last few years.

They outsourced a lot from when they first went nationwide. They were using Pittsburgh Brewing Co. 10 years ago, so I don't think it is anything new. But it may have grown with all the different brews thay now offer.

I gave up Sam Adams when I discovered the Gordon-Biersch resteraunt/brewery in Burbank. Best beers I've ever had.

With all due respect....really? I know every one's taste buds are different but I don't get Gordon-Biersch, at all. I hold it in slightly higher regard than BJ's but would still pick Sam Adams over any of their beers.

BJ's is crap. I go to GB for the Heffeweisen, it's amazing.
