What did you guys do, looking for something modern to store my goods and/or use as a dry bar instead of just having things on kitchen counters or in kitchen cabinets.

i don't have anything fancy. i have a wine fridge that fits about 30 bottles. then on the back side of my pantry, i have a cabinet where i keep all the glasses, bar ware and bottles. there's a raised counter extending out from my kitchen next to it and bar stools for you to sit at.
yeah, I have a pass-through from the kitchen to the living room too but I have low shelves there where people would be sitting, haha.
we're trying to sort all that stuff out in our new digs as well... including figgering on a place to put our wine fridge.
i'll let you know what we come up with, and i'll take pics.
I did quite a bit of searching antique stores till I found a nice bar cabinet from the Art Deco period. The top raises as I pull down the front shelf. It's mirrored inside and holds a nice selection of bottles, glasses & accesories. Below the top section are 2 lockable doors which open to more bottle storage.
Mine is simular to this Google Image Result for http://www.valuejockey.com/images/productImages/you1_md.jpg
cool, this kind of bar/liquor cabinet is what I'm looking for but the hardware is not my thing but I like the clean lines.
I need dark colors, black or close to black though.
heh, your original post made me think of these:
Wine Furniture, Wine Rack Furniture & Wet Bar Furniture | Pottery Barn
they're more traditional than modern and they're pricey. i always see them in the catalog though when i'm looking at/for other stuff.
here's one at crate and barrel:
Parker Spirits Cabinet | Crate&Barrel
too bad west elm doesn't have anything (that isn't s***), they tend to have some good modern pieces.
Yeah, I see the traditional ones a lot, I want something more modern/contemporary. You know, cleaner lines. heh. I looked at West Elm, I think the have 1 bar offered online.
The C&B one is more inline with what I'd like.
There was a pretty awesome dry bar at my local modern furniture boutique but it was $1850, lol...before the economy went to crap it was a consideration but not anymore. :(

ya, i didn't think those pottery barn ones were your style. that crate & barrel bar looks to be reasonably priced and closest to what you were inquiring about, but it doesn't have locks. i think that's the one thing i'm curious about with my bar cabinet. there aren't any locks on it and i wouldn't know how to install any... that might not be a priority for you though...
if the dry bar you saw at the local store is still available, i'd try and save up for it if you really liked it... it's more unique than these ones i linked. i'm the wrong person to be talking to about furniture though. i HATE shopping for furniture with a passion but needed a new bed so i dropped 38 hundy on a new bed because i was too lazy to research it. the good thing is i've got the antique brass bed i always wanted and i sleep like a dream now...![]()
I hate shopping in general!!! I haven't checked the place out lately but the company that made the dry bar is no longer producing furniture. I don't know if they have any left over stock at the place.
It matched a 3 section console and coffee table from the same line so it would match well. I didn't buy any of them. lol
