Alright masters of the bbq grill out there, I was wondering if anybody had some good recipes on how to bbq talapia. I've never cooked tilapia and any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Cooking fish on the grill can be tough as it tends to stick and crumble. I recommend doing it on foil, which you could essentially do in your oven. Of course, the BBQ won't stink up the house. Prepare your fish on the foil and pre-heat your grill. Place the foil on the grill. The key to cooking fish is to not overcook it. Fish cooks very quickly, so as soon as the color has changed, get it off the grill.
I'm usually not a fan of pre-mixed spice blends, but on fish I really like Slap Ya Mama ("Slap Ya Mama" Cajun Seasoning). Lemon, garlic and parsley also go well with fish.
Good luck!
Like Salami says, don't overcook it.
Fish steaks for the grill I like making a steaming pouch for it with foil.
For fish filets I use cedar planks or a sheet of foil with the skin side up. If the skin doesn't get crispy enough I hit it with a blowtorch. Gotta have crispy skin.
If it's a whole fish I just lay a sheet of foil down and cook it on that or if I'm feeling lucky I'll cook it directly on the grill.
Seasoning-wise, there are too many options. Doing a few different styles at a time will let you know what you like.
fish on the grill is tricky. you need to grease the grill before slapping the fish on or else they'll stick to it. I use a pair of tongs with a wad of papertowel pinched in it and a small bowl of veg oil to soak up the wad before wetting the grill with it.
I'm opposed to tilapia on moral grounds. It's like the tofu of fish.
And I hate tofu for similar reasons.
Get a nice mesquite grill board, soak it in water for a couple hours, I usually accent the water with some liquid smoke flavoring, then season the fish to your liking, southwest or cajun blackened seasoning are always good.
Place the board on the grill over medium low heat for 15 minutes to warm up.
Then place fish on board.
Keep an eye on the board, grill temp should be just enough to get the board smoking but not burn it.
Now here is the most important step.
Remove from the grill , carefully remove the fish from the board being very careful not to leave any fish remnants on the board.
Throw the fish in the trash and eat the board, it will taste better than the tilapia anyway....
Dude..get some real fish...
OK,,I was kidding,,sort of. But seriously, if you are going to cook fish on the barbie,,then either wood planks, a fish basket or a lot of oil are the only ways to go.
