Go there on off hours during the week and use the window. You will be golden. Not much for parking either so off hours is a must. But it is worth it. Try the Hollenbeck and if you are feeling really hungry try the Manuel's special........

We are the Samurai, the warrior elite who protect and serve. Armed and armored from head to toe, masters of our personal weapons and bound by Honor, Duty, Loyalty, and Honesty. We walk the long path into the places society would prefer forgotten, and chase those demons that most would run from screaming in fear. We are the Samurai.
I too love Man vs. Food. I've only been fortunate enough to have visited Phillipes, so the other LA places are on the list now!
The other night the wife and I were in bed watching TV and I flipped on man v food. My wife asked me about it and gave it a "whatever"and went back to playing on Facebook. Halfway through the show she turns to me and says "wow, now I get why you watch the show." We both love it and regularly watch it!
I love that place, I have always had a jar of the mustard in my fridge since I was just a little boy. I was suprised to learn from Adam's visit that there is no horse raddish in it, I had to double check the jar during the episode.
I sure hope you tried the baked apple when you were there. It's not mentioned on Man vs. Food but it should have been.
^This post is completely idiotic, don't read it.^
My wife and I went to the Kings game on our anniversary this past December...and she asked for only one thing...she wanted to go to Phillipes..sooo damn good...and their mustard is the ****!
+3 on the apple pie at Phillipes. Very good!
From the LA show, the one place I haven't been is El Tepeyac. Too much good Mexican food near me to want to head over there for some monstrous burrito.
I had never been to Orochon (the spicy ramen challenge from the LA show) even though it is a block and a half from my office. That changed today. You choose from three different kinds of broths (salt, soy or miso). Then you choose your level of spice (7 = mild to 1 = hot, but then add Special #1 and Special #2. #2 being the hottest and the challenge).
No, I did not do the Special #2 challenge highlighted on the show. I still had to return to the office and had no desire to spend the afternoon in the restroom. However, I like heat, so I jumped into a bowl of #2 miso with extra noodle and green onion. I started right off with a spoonful of broth just to see what I was dealing with. It was spicy, but not overwhelming. In other words, I could still taste the ingredients. The noodle were very nicely prepared and the pork was tasty. The heat builds up as you go along and, by the end, it actually made me break into a little sweat. I didn't have any problems with it, but anyone not into heat, like I am, should probably start off with a 5 or 6.
As for Phillipe's (which is 3 blocks from my office), double-dipped lamb FTW!!

Funny... they re-ran the LA episode of Man vs Food tonight.
Oh... and I did forget to mention that I've been to one other MvF location. Caught the North Carolina episode before I went there a few months ago. Stopped at Time Out, near UNC - Chapel Hill, on my way to Winston-Salem. Had the chicken-cheddar biscuit that Adam had on the show. Cheddar cheese, really good piece of boneless fried chicken on a big fresh biscuit. Good stuff.
I know I'll have to remind myself to re-watch the Vegas episode for the next Frozen Fury and find that breakfast placed with the f***ed up eggs benedict dish.
at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

I'm pretty sure it was this place, /// Hash House a go go | Twisted Farm Food ///.
