Okay so I went to Albatros last night & decided to get the carne asada tacos. Not knowing how big they would be I ordered four to start & figuered I'd order more if I was still hungry. They put tons of meat on these. I was full after 3 but still put the fourth one down anyway. I was stuffed. The only thing I didn't like about it was they put so much steak it really didn't have any flavor. I will definitely eat there again though.
i had albatros for lunch today. once i heard they had carne asada fries, i made husband take me there.
i think they're even better than sombrero's, which was my usual fix despite it being so far away. i like how albatros gives more meat than fries. i could never finish all those fries at sombrero's and i couldn't take them home because i don't like how fries don't keep very well. with albatros, however, i took the leftover carne asada, guac and cheese home and will probably make tacos out of them with some corn tortillas i have in my fridge.
husband got a bean and cheese burrito and a cheese enchilada. he liked them. he also couldn't finish his food. their portions are huge, which isn't bad, but it was a surprise. he'll probably finish the rest of that burrito for lunch at work tomorrow.
good recommendation hip & thanks to nayagamj for mentioning the carne asada fries in another thread.
i mentioned the fries >=0
and if you ever head down to san diego sombrero is highly recommended, as is roberto's taco shop and oscar's! be sure to also check out lolitas in south county, and stay away from santanas. barely a step above taco bell.
i used to get them at sombrero's all the time, but i live in huntington beach so north county's kind of a drive for me and i can't really easily indulge any spur of the moment cravings there.
i'd bring some up to you since i'm up there a lot but they'd get soggy
albatros carne asada fries!!!!
also, my friend is positive that they put black tar heroin in the hot sauce. its addictive!!
