haha, i had my husband drop by on thursday and get ground meat to make burgers today. SO GOOD. comparable price to grocery stores, but better meat, imo. fresher, too.

i like my burgers not rare, but close to it. because of that, i only trust a good butcher shop like beef palace. seriously, if i had a bigger stomach, i'd have eaten more than the 1/3 lb burger. so much om nom nom nomming... damnit, i should've taken a picture... we're going to do this plenty of times this summer, so next time i will!

Finally made it to the fabled Beef Palace today! Have been training down in Irvine so getting by there today became a reality. I picked up a 1.5 lbs brisket, two premium center chops, a rack of baby backs, 4 sweet Italian links and two t-bone porterhouse steaks! Those steaks are getting done tonight! Unfortunately most everything else will have to hit the freezer for now (I know, I know...). The steaks look farking awesome! Hell, it all looks awesome! And very friendly service. When I told the butcher I'd need to freeze some of my purchase he made sure to double wrap everything. Nice!

I went by Beef Palace today. Picked up a rib eye, some fresh ground beef and some chili mix and some frozen giant shrimp. Just a drive-by but I will enjoy every mouthful.

I DID notice that were quite will supplied with various gourmet meats as venison, elk and even . . . alligator!

    Gotta get some recipes quick!

Anyone have any recommendations for butcher shops up in the SF Valley? I have a place I go to close by in Granada Hills, but it isn't exceptional in either quality or value.

Jim's Market on Fallbrook isn't bad. There is also Green Acres in Simi Valley and they have awesome tri tip sandwiches.

I picked up some of the frozen shrimp and they were sooooo good with some saffron rice and cauliflower.

The ground beef is the best! Wifey made some excellent chili with it in the crock pot (using mix she bought at Beef Palace).

this is true. so good, i can eat it practically raw. normally, grocery store ground beef, if cooked in a burger rare, is kind of pasty and disgusting. we get the ground beef at beef palace, char the patty so it's cooked outside and quite rare on the inside and it's SO DELICIOUS. my god. i could eat a burger every day if it weren't bad for me.

Gaaaa! I finally could not take it anymore! After convincing myself I didn't really need to go into the office, checking the traffic, and just clearing out the schedule in general, I made it down to the Beef Palace! Man, that place... wow. Here's the take home

    1.5 lbs Ribeye steak
    4 Italian sweet links
    1.5 lbs stuffed pork chop
    1 lbs swordfish steaks
    6 pack hamburger patties
    6 pack beef hotdogs
    1 whole chicken
    2 lbs babyback ribs
    Beef Palace rub
2 big spuds outta the trough

Stopped by and picked up a sixer of Lagunitas Censored to go along with!

    Now, where to start...
