So I did try the match, Hip. Unfortunately..... they were the worst nectarines we've had all season. Much too hard and underripe. However, the occasional sweet-ish bite DID indeed expose a nice tropical sweetness in the sauv. blanc, and the other unripe bites brought forward a more stony minerality resembling a more old-world style wine. The bottle was called "Pomelo", and was pretty good at 9 bucks. I think Wine Spectator just gave it 88-points, which is respectable at that price point. The goat cheese was great with this, btw. :good:
Sweet review....some pun intended. Im a red wine fan but sometimes white is very refreshing. Its been a long time since Ive had a good chenin blanc.
