Chef Boyardee makes some awesome food. The OC people love it.

    LOL.

I'm an Orange County native/escapee. All this talk about where to get a good meal in Orange County is a bit like speculating on what the best beach in Nebraska is.

    Get into the city folks.

Sad, but true. Every time I come back from New York, Boston, Chicago, Japan, etc., I have to sigh when it comes to eating OC food again.

Come on, Pizza Hut wins every year when OC's Best Pizza Award comes out! What does that tell you?

I seriously hope that you aren't taking the bolded part seriously and that you are smarter than that

It tells you that there are more Pizza Huts in Orange County than any other pizza place. Everyone knows that small independent pizza places are better. But when it comes to voting Danny's pizza in Mission Viejo isn't going to get any votes in Huntington Beach, Brea, Anaheim, Santa Ana, etc. But if Pizza Hut gets something like 5% of the vote in each city is it obviously going to kill the small places in voting.

Besides Z Pizza won best pizza in Orange county

Some haters on Yelp, but I highly recommend either one.

    I like Angelo's and Vinci's, it's not bad...

Actually I was more or less trying to be funny, but since you brought this up, yes, I know the OC Weekly polls are a popularity contest.

But I also think that there's a lot of people in OC are used to "Franchised-tasting" food (not saying you or others here). Otherwise, how can Z Pizza or Pizza Hut even get votes? These franchise restaurants then become the standard that independent restaurants have to follow.

For example, I asked my friend, who is Thai, for a good authentic Thai restaurant. He said, in OC there is only one: "Thai Nakorn." He said all the other ones have bland flavoring because people in Orange County think those flavors are too harsh because they have grown used to all the other Thai food places here.

So bringing up New York food; they don't have as many franchises there, so the food doesn't get "watered down." When you go to an Italian restaurant there (not in Little Italy), the food is just awesome. When you come back here, you taste the difference.

I'm not trying to be an elitist, but isn't that LGK? Someone mentions that Angelo & Vinci's is great, and the next poster says it's a piece of ****.
