The Wife and I are nearing our 9th year anniversary and Im looking for a place to take her. We were going to go to some of our old favorites in the spaghetti bender, marche modern, or Capn Jacks but she thought we should try something new.
So we are looking for a wine friendly locale(may bring my own and pay corkage) that has good food and is one price level below that of marche moderne. We loved marche modern but over a hundred books at this point is unrealistic. So I would love to hear any suggestions. We are in South OC but anywhere in OC would be OK provided its not Brea or that area. Once again look forward to your thoughts.

Have you been to Watermarc or K'ya in Laguna Beach? I've never been to neither, but my foodie friend loves both of them.
I'm partial to Marche myself.

After reading some Yelp reviews...I might check out Nicks. Good reviews and free corkage for 2 bottles.

Splashes in Laguna Beach is good. You can request a lower level table if you call ahead.

Don the Beachcomber is a nice romantic setting at the beach.

I know the people that own Nick's so my opinion might be biased. But you probably couldn't go wrong there.
My parents like going to Il Garage in Stanton. Yes, right on Beach Blvd. The owner also owns Park Ave. Not sure how wine friendly they are, but they rave about the food.

I haven't been, and also do not know about their corkage policy, but some of my OC friends swear by Il Garage, as well. Looks like a very unique place.

Roma Cucina in Sunset Beach, there are other locations as well but this is the original and the best that I have been to.

Not knocking it but there is something about the phrase "for our anniversary Im taking you to Stantons Finest" just doesnt roll off the tongue like you would think.
