Omelettes for everyone!
I don't know about you guys but I have a house full of people the day after thanksgiving. One thing we like to do is make omelettes for everyone using zip-lock bags. It's so easy and everyone gets to build their own.
Prepare a bunch of ingredients to put in the omelettes. I like to use the leftover turkey and ham but you can use whatever you want. Cheese is always a good idea. I also like to add a tiny bit of butter to each one for flavor.
Prepare your usual scrambled egg mixture based on how many omelettes you are making.
Fill a large stockpot with water and bring to a boil.
Have everyone write their names on a zip-lock bag (I prefer freezer bags). Then have everyone put whatever ingredients they want in their bag.
Divvy out the scrambled egg mixture into the bags and seal them up making sure to get out all the air. I like to wrap the bags with a rubber band to keep the excess from flopping around.
Throw the bags into the boiling water and cook for about 12 min.
This is an easy way to make breakfast for everyone and everyone gets an omelette just the way they like it.
I've done this while camping because I didn't want to have to wash dishes on morning that we were leaving. Cooked bacon and biscuits the night before. Seems more like a camping thing than an at home thing. The peppers, mushrooms and onions need to be pre-fried.
I like the idea of this, but I'm not too hip on cooking in plastic. The whole carcinogen(sp?) thing turns me offf.
Is this kind of how they make buffet-line scrambled eggs?
Sounds like a quick way to do omelettes for a lot of people but I like to have a little browning on mine.
Hmm, this may be a great way to get my kids to try omelets. They like anything better when they can pick out their own stuff. Gonna have to try it. Thanks!
