good weather for pho, pho sure.
good weather for pho, pho sure.
We are the Samurai, the warrior elite who protect and serve. Armed and armored from head to toe, masters of our personal weapons and bound by Honor, Duty, Loyalty, and Honesty. We walk the long path into the places society would prefer forgotten, and chase those demons that most would run from screaming in fear. We are the Samurai.
Mrs Lunchbox and Mr. Slo Mo, you guys laugh but there is a very good Pho Sure in Santa Clarita.
Also, Glendale Pho Co. is pretty good. Pho Citi Sucks in Burbank.
That is all, i m going to disappear for a few months.
Good Pho & Whiskey weather!
Do they have whiskey in Vietnamese restaurants?
not too many since it requires a liquor license (not the regular beer) and most mom and pop viet places i imagine try to keep costs down. furthermore, serving hard liquor sometimes carries its own burdens...
i did eat at a bourgie modern vietnamese place in SF that serves high quality single malts, buffalo trace bourbon cocktails and other libations. this is not a place you would order pho at although they do carry it...
i should also add though that most of the old school vietnamese i know prefer cognac. for that reason, my dad told me i had to have a bottle of hennessy at each table at our wedding reception...

Makes sense. Not that I know anything, lol, but didn't think whiskey was necessarily a big thing that tends to be found alongside with Vietnamese cuisine. French booze, on the other hand, does seem to make more sense.
I appreciate Vietnamese food a whole lot more now The first Vietnamese restaurant that I went to was beyond bad, lol, and it's kinda what happens when one tries a certain type food for the first time. If it's from a bad place it tends to scare you off for a while before you try it again. Maybe, haha, if I would've had whiskey to wash down the bad food from that first place it might have helped.![]()
Pho Lemon in Monrovia (on Lemon east of Myrtle) is pretty good. at least that's where I lost my pho-cherry.
I BELIEVE I'll have another beer!
^ ive been there, and it is soooooo good!
another place that is good for ramen is Kohryu, off of Baker & the 73 basically. love hitting that place on a cold day!
