If you dice the onion small enough it will disintegrate and she wont know its in there and you still get the flavor.

I should probably sticky this to the top of the forum but here is the link to penzeys.
I usually order and have it shipped but if I was near Torrance.....would be good times.

Nice, thanks Hip!
Everythings in the crock pot, a lil worried i may have used too much liquid. Guess i'll find out around 5
It turned out great, the meat was falling apart in the crock pot. Will definitely be making this again and most likely not change a thing. I made a 3 1/4lb roast for 5 people and thought there would be leftovers but theres maybe enough left for one meal.
Thanks for all the help!
We are having that for dinner tonight actually. Aa long as the potatoes and carrots get cooked long enough I love them cooked that way.
Ropa vieja is my favorite thing to make in the slow cooker. Basically a pot roast with different spices and bell peppers (and onions for those that like them) instead of potatoes and carrots. The sauce is so good.
Broke out the crock pot this morning to make this, can't wait till i get home and smell it.Quote:
4lb chuck roast - browned w/ ranch seasoning
white pearl onions
carrots
red potatoes
mccormick pot roast season
liptons onion soup packets
bear flag red wine
1. Season the meat with ranch seasoning
2. brown the meat on all sides
3. Cut up all veggies and place in bottom of crock pot
4. Place roast over veggies
5. Pour in 1/2 cup water, seasonings & 1 cup red wine (or would you use 1 cup water, 1/2 cup wine?)
6. Cook on low for 8 hours
So I have a question. I used a mix with lots of carrots, potatoes and celery plus alot (too much) water I think. It turned out like beef stew.
So I am assuming less water and maybe pan searing the meat prior to dropping in the crock pot will keep the meat from falling completely apart and making a stew out of it? Help!
