Naysay, time for another road-trip?Ninety-nine stores were bought by Taco Bell in 1984, effectively ending the history of the chain. However, three operations in Albuquerque, New Mexico were not included in the deal and two still exist today as Pop 'N' Taco.

I saw Rogie Vachon at the Pup N Taco right before he got traded to the Kings.
I'm sure everyone knows about the Del Taco Tuesday Night Special (3 tacos for like 99
cents). I just noticed the Rubio's by my place also has a Taco Tuesday Night Special, their
famous fish taco (beer battered BTW - or so they claim) for $1. I know most will think...
"Why would I want to buy 1 taco as opposed to getting 3 for a buck"? Rubio's, though not
a "Sharkey's", "Baja fresh", or a "Chitople" for that matter, but a definite step above TB,
DT, and the defunct "Naugles" and "P'N'T". Just thought I would share...
Let the taco wars begin!
I loved this place, i do miss them. Yes all the locations of taco bell in the west la/santa monica area were all originally pup in tacos. I loved the slushes(NOT ICES OR SLURPEES THERE IS A DIFFERENCE)) In flavored grape or cherry as i recall. The chili dongs were great and nice pastramis also! Only place i get actual slushes are at the circle K gas station near Santa Monica Airport. I also feeling nostalgic for Pioneer chicken(there is one location near olympic and la brea) and Sub Machine sandwiches chain, a triple dipple ice cream from McDonalds with the real Hamburgler, Mayor Mccheese, and the rest of Mcdonalndland characters.
I just ordered a shirt.
This thread has made me remember some very good times growing up. Pup 'n' Taco was one of the first places that I was allowed to ride my bike to with the neighborhood kids. I loved the grape slushies and hot dogs.
