That's timing for you! I just bought a bottle of that today! Beerman, Vendome in Toluca has it, as well as some Stone IRS (whatever I left behind!)

Had this tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it:





Looks very much in color of the second photo. Bills itself as a "Bavarian Lager." Very much light tasting and almost hefeweisen in taste. Would recommend. I got it at a Fred Meyer store, which is much like a Pavilions/Target cross store here in Seattle. They have a very good selection of beers there if anyone ever visits Seattle.

I found the last Rauchbier Maerzen at Vendome. also got the Urbock. we'll see how either one goes tonight.

Had the Schlenkerla Rauchbier Marzen yesterday. I remember seeing this beer profiled on an old episode of "The Thirsty Traveler" so when I saw it here locally I wanted to give it a go. First off, you'd better like smoke if you get this beer! Just smelling it from the bottle was like sticking your head in a fire pit! The taste was surprisingly smooth! I was expecting to try to swallow a mouthful of bitter rusty nails but instead the beer was creamy, smokey, and well balanced in my opinion. Whether it tastes of bacon, I don't think so, but I did get some hickory-ish flavor. It was akin to drinking a barbecue, which for some reason, I really enjoyed!

I had this paired with a nice cigar and both left me feeling quite pleased. I'll definitely be getting this again. I want to try the Urbock next time. The sales guy there said the Marzen was the smokier of the two.

I am having this Marzen beer right now. the aroma DOES give off a smoky character. and at the first sip,

wow. it is creamy and has a distinctive hickory flavor, AND I did sense the bacon. kinda like there's bacon fat in the beer. but oh boy, that is a great beer.

unholy, you and I are going to have to butt heads over this one when they restock it.
