Smithwicks (pronounced "Smiddicks" according to a bartender at my favorite bar) is pretty good stuff. Not great, but not bad. Looking to hit up Blue Palms this weekend. Should have a few beers there I've never tried before.

Tried this on a recommendation, not bad. Nice and simple without the heaviness or dark rustwater taste of a lot of Irish ales. Minuses, kinda wimpy and a little bland.
that's like saying SlapNutz is wimpy and bland. better watch out.

    so is the Corona Light.
I BELIEVE I'll have another beer!

File Shock Top with Blue Moon.......On the other hand, had a couple of pints of Green Flash Hop Head Red on tap at the Pour House yesterday afternoon. It was the perfect end to a nice day at the beach in Cambria yesterday. I was surprised that it was just what the doctor ordered given the near triple digit heat yesterday. The Amarillo hop nose made me want to chug the first one down quickly but I took my time and really enjoyed the balance this beer has. Seek it out hop heads.

As a massive fan of Newcastle this truly was an affront. Newcastle is what it is...DARK HEAVY AND DIRTY. Imagine Newcastle's (notsoevil) twin. This is light, with a nice, almost fruity taste...your everyday summer ale. Not worthy of sporting the Newcastle name, but not the crappiest beer I have ever gotten ripped on.

I went to an awesome tasting at my buddy's house Saturday. There was roughly 20-30 beers there, but the highlight of the tasting was definitely the Midnight Sun Sins Series beers! A couple of them (such as the Imperial Pilsner and lower ABV Belgian pales) had obviously peaked, but some of the stronger ones were still pretty damn good.

The best beer of the day was the Bullfrog Black Cherry Bomb. WOW !!!
