I had a Black Butte out of a tap at a local watering hole last week. didn't turn out bad at all. must have been the previous release.

my guess is that Deschutes had a dirty tank?
I BELIEVE I'll have another beer!

That was certainly the case with the Bitter Chocolate Oatmeal Stout (12th Anniversary). But the 14th is an IPA, and will not age. In my experience, IPAs peak very quick and are best consumed fresh. Age will do nothing beneficial to an IPA in my opinion.

It was just their bottles. Kegs were fine.

They are both good beers. Especially the Hef.

Slightly OT - me and a buddy are going to take a trip up to Healdsburg to visit some old college friends and to just get out of here for 3 days. We plan on hitting a couple of breweries/brewpubs in the area. So far we've ID'd the following 4 as can't miss: Bear Republic in Healdsburg, 3rd Street Aleworks and Russian River Brewing in Santa Rosa, and Lagunitas in Petaluma. Do any of you have suggestions for other places that are within that 30 some odd mile radius that are can't miss beer places? BTW, we'll probably hit Toronado in SF on the way up or back as well. Much obliged all.

dubble bastard ale, by the stone brewing company in san diego. It's thick like syrup and has a real ale taste.

Did you misspell Dubbel? or Double?

Because a Dubbel is a completely different style of beer.
