I had the Negro Modelo, best of the Mexican beers I've had.

I was told the master brewer of this beer was a German, hence why it's a dark beer. I heard this after making the comment that my people (Mexicans) could not produce a decent beer to save their lives, let alone a decent dark beer.

    Is it the weekend yet?

JO IPA is a top 5 IPA in my book. Completely lives UP to it's name. Just Outstanding.

Drake's Hop Salad, on tap at Father's Office in downtown Culver City

Holy crap, this thing gives Pliny a run for its money. Crazy well-balanced, hops pouring out your ears throughout, complex. Find it, drink it.

If you guys can find it there's a micro in SF that's finally started canning beers (not sure why they don't bottle) anyway it's 21st Amendment. I enjoy going down there and they have lots of different stuff. I think they're canning their fireside chat and it's not too shabby (better draft) for a brown ale. Haven't tried their other stuff to see how it holds up. Good none the less.

Went to the bar last night and had some pints:

Stone Vanilla Porter (no way this is a porter. Thick and chewy with a nice vanilla extract flavor)
    Firestone Union Jack (solid)
RR Blind Pig (much better and more balanced on tap than from the bottle. Really impressed with this)
Stone Old Guardian '10 (very good. Gonna have to buy some bottles of this one)

Sipping on Irondale Double Chocolate Stout. Has a peculiar bitterness that I wasn't expecting. Anybody else ever have one of these? I'm not sure if the bitterness is intentional or I got a bad bottle.

the only thing about Stone's Vanilla Porter that disappointed me was the apparent lack of vanilla flavor. did you get any of that?
I BELIEVE I'll have another beer!

KRBC Class V Stout. Get it. Get a lot of if. Drink it. Highly recommended in case you can't read between the lines.
