The recommend-a-beer thread

My recent trip to the Portland area was filled with great beers. Stopped by the Deschutes Brewery to sample some of their beers. I also had a few from Bridgeport and Hub while I was there. However, the highlight was a small place in Vancouver Washington called By The Bottle. It offers up bottles of beer from around the world, with most being beers not normally sold in that area. Upstairs, they have a taproom with some of the local beers on tap. They also have some cellered beers in the taproom, and I indulged in a 2009 Goose Island Bourbon County Stout. Really nice bourbon richness, and 13%ABV.

If you like Stella you should try Kona Longboard Lager. It's pretty easy to find and it has much more flavor, IMO. And once you try Longboard, try Sam Adams Boston Lager. And then Bass Ale. And then New Castle. And then Guinness.

And if you make it through all that and enjoy it....the real fun starts!

ETA: Stone collaboration Cherry Chocolate Stout. I think the sourness in the cherries is a tad more present than the last bottle I had. Not bad. Unique. I'd say if you told me this was a quasi-sour stout I'd dig it a good amount.

a stout, eh? maybe it'll make a great stout float!
